Do you have a 3rd place in your neighborhood?

Was my daughters 7th birthday party 2 weekends ago had the party at the park at the end of my street. She invited her classmates and the wifey put out the invite on her group chat with the neighbourhood moms. Wheeled my bbq over, filled a couple coolers with beer and wife made a big sangria.
Ended up with roughly 120 people almost all of whom knew each other from this same park bringing our kids there. Some other family members of mine were absolutely stunned by the sense of community in the air such a valuable thing and such a strong support center.
More should absolutely be done to foster similar environments for everyone who wants to be a part of one.

Why would I need a "3rd place" when I got everything I need at home

But to answer the question, growing up in NYC, it used to be the local pool hall or arcade aka (the game room). There was also more neighborhood bowling alleys & skating rinks. Even the malls & shopping areas (Plaza, Albee, Colosseum) A lot of that changed during the 90s with rent increases, disinterest, crime & the rise of the Internet.

A third place doesn’t seem to be for peace. It seems to be more for social/community interaction and connection. Your third place (or one of them) is the coli. I think you’re getting caught up in the stupid “3rd place” name. It’s just a convenient place for people to hang out. I don’t think there’s anything lame about having a chill spot.So they looking for a third place to make friends??? This generation so lame
