Do you have to tell your co-workers that you have resigned?

This hasn't happened yet for me, but when people leave my firm, they send out a mass email letting everyone know they're moving on. At most, I would tell my superiors for obvious reasons, but other than that I personally have no interest in telling the people I work with.

If it were up to me I'd slip off into the night and let people know that I left when they see my desk empty. Is this poor etiquette? I don't give a fukk about my coworkers and I'm sure the feeling is mutual among many.

I don't plan in working in Finance after I move on. If they deem it as a bridge burned, it wasn't strong anyway.

It's one thing to tell your boss. It's another thing to tell your coworkers. They don't need to know anything personal. I wouldn't even tell the boss where my next job was.

I see those emails usually from white people. Most other people (from my experience) usually just quit. And I understand why. You start telling people your plans and goals they gone hate and sabotage. I completely understand people just quitting without notice or exit email. I understand telling your boss though, but not announcing it to everybody.

be a nice as possible if you not trying to burn bridges. but don't feel any obligation. No employer has ever given someone 2 weeks notice before firing.

I'm cool with a lot of my coworkers, so I'll let them know on my last day. And I'll send an email out to all the people in the other offices that I've had good relationships with. That's if they dont just tell me to get my shyt and go, upon resigning...

I'm currently in this situation. I got a new job starting jul 23rd and I'm keeping my mouth shut until like beginning of July. They don't need to know what I got going on just yet.

I let some of my co-workers know that I was leaving when I left my last job. I was real cool with a few of them and I would joke around saying that I'm gone soon. My manager had somewhat of an idea but not really. That previous Saturday after a meeting I spoke with him and he knew I was thinking about leaving and told me to reconsider. I was gonna quit because of him anyways. I was already talking to the recruiter from my current job but later that week I just left him a note one day and said I was out and not coming back. Still friends with my old co-workers so it's different compared to someone who doesn't like their co-workers.
