America was founded by a bunch of tax ducking rich cacs who sold the play as “liberty and independence”. The concept of collectivism and sacrificing to ensure the stability and prosperity of the nation is a foreign concept to American society.

Americans are too selfish, short sighted, wealth obsessed, fat and stupid to understand that letting the rich have carte blanche fukks the rest of us over.

It hasn't existed in earnest. Authoritarians just use the branding and nationalize everything while killing anyone that tries to make unions and elevate worker power.

Closest thing to actual socialism is cuba which does relatively well considering the embargo.
Have you been to Cuba? My family visited last year. The haves and have-nots are greater distanced than here, but there are virtually no options to better ones condition. The masses are very well educated - at one restaurant, the servers and cooks served the meal, then performed Shakespeare dinner theater. A lot for your money $2400 CUP ($100/month).
The food is limited, but incredibly fresh. The coffee, amazing. The US embargo facilitated a culture of repurpose (cars, art, machinery, etc.), but China, Canada, Korea, Japan had no such retrictions. The failure of the government to spark, grow and import innovation has been blamed on outside forces and marketed as such. But counter intuitively, there are 4 star hotels and residences in Havana. The country is gaining momentum towards prosperity. Why? More capitalism since Castro's demise. People are begining to exercise legal hustles/businesses based on their talent, sacrifice, and market opportunities.
I've seen first-hand in Russia and Kazakhstan the remnants of the great social experiment. Most infrastructure is held together from the 50s & 60s with vital 1st world elements (basic public internet, military, espionage, etc.) woven in. Black market and oil olagarcs in Russia and space launches in Kazakhstan. Cuba remains a communist bloc satellite, albeit slowly falling out of orbit.

LOL this stupid fukking Canadian

Wtf do you think started off the Vietnam and Korean War?

How about when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan?

How do you stan an ideology but don’t know the basics?

Oh wait, that’s obvious as to why.

America supported French imperialism in Vietnam

Americans divided Korea and then prevented reunification

Soviets were invited into Afghanistan by the Amin government unlike America who toppled the Taliban

Uhhmm last I checked, China had a lot to do with the kick off of the Vietnam war

“Americans divided” Korea because it was going to fall under control of the Soviets under Mao

And if the soviets were “invited” to Afghanistan they wouldn’t have went to war with them

I think Americans are too used to at least feeling like they have a voice.

Authoritarianism will eventually come if we don't get rid of the anti democratic parts of our system like the Supreme Court, electoral college or federal courts that are staffed by unelected officials.

But I don't see it coming as communism, I see it coming as white fascism but then that fascism will collapse as Americans still want to be individuals and don't want to be dominated.
I mean we kinda already are just from government assistance programs (government helping their populace = socialism. Military benefits = socialism) conservatives and republicans already want to get rid of those things or cut back, if we went full swing to the left I think we would go into a real civil war. I do support more left wing politics (outside of the fact LGQBT are a protected class) it will benefit all.

Well you're kind of saying what I'm saying. With the embargo lifted there's more access to goods and services, until it got put back in. Cuba is still one of the top countries with high union membership

The socialism doesn't feel as oppressive in Cuba because private business is still allowed to operate but generally its union or Co op. Workers have a stake in the business so they're less likely to leave and more likely to vote for policies that will keep the business going. Under a non union model, there's no reason for a ceo with a net worth of over 100 million to care if the business fails. As enron and the 2008 financial crises have shown us, in an economic disaster the rich leave unscathed or in a better position. They don't get arrested and they can retire with more money than your entire neighborhood has.
