They didn't ever beat a team as good as the 2015 Warriors. The best team they beat after Shaq was either the 2009 magic or 2010 Celtics. One of those had a starting back court of Courtney lee and Raefor Alston and the other went .500 after Christmas Day, only finding its rhthym in the playoffs.

The one who's either in the lead or current runner up for the WOAT is out here arguing the 2010 thunder with all their guys 20-21 years old and 0 playoff games under their belt compared to the 2012 team in the finals because 50-32 is better than 47-19Right. It's pretty comparable actually. How many of those teams are beating the C's or the pre injury Bulls? What separates those squads from the current Raptors or the George/Lance/Verticality Pacers?
People only hype those old west squads up out of nostalgia/Kobe riding. If someone 15 years from now tried to act like the Hawks, Raptors, post injury Bulls, flabby Nets were some unconquerable gauntlet you would hit them with theand
and rightfully so. This is no different...those squads had nothing for Kobe and Shaq no matter what their record was.
I think Rivers does make a fair point about the nostalgia getting the better of people in certain aspects. The WC was very good though, but at the same time for ex., KG carried that T-Wolves team in a very Lebron-ish fashion with Troy Hudson and Wally Szczerbiak being their next best players; it was more so KG's greatness than his squad being that legit. The Trail/Jail Blazers were one of the more overrated teams b/c of the names of their roster (half of those names being flabby or malcontents).
It was pretty much 4 teams. Lakers, Spurs, Kings and Mavs.
And of those 4, ppl used to say how Duncan was pretty much carrying a buncha role players and a past his prime D-Robinson. Hence why Lakers demolished/swept them back2back until '03 when the Lakers own roster got a bit flabby.
I actually feel the top 4 in the west that year match up well with the top 4 of the '11 East (Heat, Bulls, Celtics, Magic). Shame injuries and flabby'ness crippled most of those teams afterwards.
04-05 season was prob when the WC was the most stacked of that era, after the Lakers disbanded.

I think he does and simply doesn't care because that fits the narrative of the Lakers beating more 50 win teams than lebrons teams even if these were series where Kobe hardly played or some random arbitrary stat he cherry picks to fit his argument, such as his including the 1998 lakers beating the sonics with Kobe playing a minor role.Does that retard even realize 2012 was a 66 game season?
