First off, Simmons is dead on right and had the balls to say it on national TV and offer his rebuke, which left the whole bench shook.

Secondly, I fully enjoyed Docs tenure and he was great on his weekly radio spots.

Thirdly, i get why some people dont like Simmons because hes a known Boston sports fan on national media outlets, but the dude offers something that only TNT has when jt comes to the NBA, so ofcourse hes going to get airtime on a competitor network. Plus, hes obviously a large fan and nerd of the game so its not like were talking about Skip Bayless here.

You idiots beg someone from the media to go at coaches and/or players and not try to network and build friendships with people they idolized and now when someone does it... it's like :whoa:

Simmons is the coli and the coli is Bill Simmons.

But there's also a level of decorum that's expected of a "professional" media member to act. Not some scorned little bytch or coli poster. Like I said, he was calling for the man to be gone before this shyt came to light because he didn't see why he'd coach a rebuilding team and the C's would want to pay him $7 milli to suck. Plus if Doc walked away he couldn't coach for 3 yrs anyway. It was in his contract that he couldn't. He and management agreed to an amicable split. nikkas is sounding like Cavs fans when Bron left.

Simmons didn't go off on Doc because he didn't want to stay, though. I think we all understand that Doc didn't want to deal with a rebuilding process (even though he was willing to do so initially), it was because Doc was blaming others for his departure. Doc was trying to uphold this image of being a live and breathe loyal Celtic guy.

All Simmons did was call Doc out on bullshytting everyone. I see no issue with that.

Of course not, but Doc's side is that it was the C's that made this happen, that he was all set to return and go to battle.

And my side is who cares what he said. People spout all kinds of bullshyt when they make moves:

"My heart is still in insert city here"
"It's not about the money"
"We came to a mutual decision to part"
"I want to spend more time with my family"

There are plenty more. And no matter what kinda shyt Doc pulled behind the scenes when it comes down to it the C's did make this happen. If they really wanted him they could've forced his hand. nikkas acting like he left on his own and the C's didn't have to sign off on it.

the fact that people are actually taking sides in this mess is just :dead:

both of these dudes have stepped outside the lines here.

this isn't even about what Doc did or didn't do...he's an NBA head coach and it's the job of analysts (whether you like them or not) to analyze their situation

Bill Simmons gets paid to give his opinion...that is WHY they pay him...once again...agree with his opinion or not...he can NOT be wrong for stating his opinion...that's just dumb

where this whole thing goes off the rails is when these two started bickering with each other beyond the initial back and forth...the back and forth during the draft was fine...stupid but fine...that whole thing was set up by ESPN that's why they asked the question...so while annoying that was ESPN orchestrating it...and if you just leave it there that's fine

but then Doc goes on a radio show and starts firing shots sounding like a hurt little child...and then Bill hops on twitter tossing idle threats like some angry teenager...it's all mind numbingly childish and silly on both of their parts

but as I said earlier...I'm a part of the problem...because everytime something else happens I'm here like :steviej::russ::pachaha::lolbron:

Man fukk Bill Simmons. I read some of his articles but at the end of the day it goes like this...

There is NO SUCH THING as "loyalty" in professional sports. Where millions of dollars, your job, status, and legacy are on the line every season. Be you player, coach, owner, or whatever; if you are presented with an opportunity for greener pastures then you take it. Simple as that. Rivers went from Coach of the Celtics to Senior Vice President Of Basketball Operations with the Clippers. That's a come up. fukk rebuilding, having to battle with Rondo, and all that shyt. He quit on the team? Well good for him because you can bet that if the "rebuilding" phase didn't go as planned and Boston was tanking three years from now, Rivers head would've been on a chopping block. His reasons for leaving was for a Come up on a contender. Salute that man and fukk any CACS who say they'd do it differently...:pacspit:

Honestly...Loyalty in professional sports:wtf: ya'll nikkas kill me...

This dude Bill tweeting at Doc being real disrespectful.

Calling him Glenn and telling him it would be best to stop talking like he gonna do somthing to him.

This is what happens when you let Stan's,homers, and sports nerds get power. They can actually influence and act out their over emotion to a team and situation. doc said dude tried to get him fired before.

Back in the day a bill simmons was relegated to his moms basement maybe a beat writer for the local newspaper or AT BEST an article writer for sport illustrated. NOW these fukk boys are getting websites and front office jobs with teams and unlimited pull at the biggest networks for being dorks that could blog in the early 00s.

bill simmons and his fan shtick is fukking up the game.

i love grantland but bill needs to keep all this boston shyt to a minimum in national media

The C's just traded their coach and 2 of their best players that were key parts in a championship 3 years ago, the team was easily the top story Thursday.

Was he not supposed to talk about the team?

Basketball is a sport. The NBA is a business.

Doc Rivers coached his team throughout the season and playoffs. He didn't refuse to show up or coach the team throughout all of this so he didn't quit on them. After the season is completely over, it's fair game to look at other coaching and playing opportunities for everyone. The NBA is not some rec league where a coach/player can just up and leave his current team during the season to coach or play for a better one.

People are saying that he quit on the Celtics is just flat out hilarious. The contract stipulations that a coach signs is different from a player's contract. The media knows that most people aren't really familiar with some of the business side of sports, so they try to exploit players and coaches when they make business decisions that will not be widely accepted.

The media loves to stir up controversy. It's part of their job!
