Of course everyone lies. I just don't see the shame in admitting why you bailed. Don't tip toe around it.

So why are we acting like Doc is noteworthy?

Of course there is no shame in being honest but why are we expecting honesty from him? He's not a pastor or a priest or rabbi, he's a basketball coach.

Who faulted Simmons? :wtf: He's a media attention whore doing what media attention whores do. :manny: Can't knock the hustle. My issue is all this talk about quitting and not honoring commitment as if the Celtics didn't have to agree to let him go and nikkas acting like business isn't all about looking out for self and lying when it's deemed necessary.

Yeah I don't care about that....I have no issues with Doc leaving he can do whatever he wants.

I think it's because NBA coaches still have a thread of integrity left with fans and when they say or make statements about diehard this or that, fans will believe them, even Jackie MacMullan on Around The Horn was so sure Doc was going to comeback to coach the Celtics she bet a -500 point score if it turned out otherwise and she's right there with Doc and has been since his arrival and even she was duped.

Now, if a player had said this no one would be shocked if they jump shipped most would have expected it because the fans already know the deal with their 'decisions'.

Am I imagining the part where the Celtics were in on the shyt though? :wtf: Doc didn't have the ability to dupe the Celtics, he had 3 years left on his deal. His only option beyond their control was to walk away from the money and accept less to do TV.

We've seen coaches do far shadier shyt (LB flirting with other squads during the fukking Finals, Antoni literally quitting on the Knicks a couple seasons ago) and catch far less shyt.

And :russ::comeon::usure::laff::lolbron: at a point score bet on ATH being the ultimate measure of something.

Nah, coaches still have some flex when it comes to fans I think. Phil Jax, Pop, Riley and George Karl have good standing with the fans and have solid rep. It's not the old days of the NBA were coaches were there good and bad but those coaches have solid reputations and are proven and respected.

Then you have guys like Belichick, Andy Reid and Pete Carroll even despite their perception are still viewed as believable and players and fans buy into them, they are hated but still have the fans respect.

:laff: Well, I fukks with ATH and it was in the back of my mind, so I ran with it.:manny: I figured if someone like seasoned NBA reporter Jackie Mac who's paid to check facts and not just be a fan or :skip: could be naive enough to believe Doc then I guess anyone could.

Remember for a minute Ainge couldn't get a hold of Doc and he wasn't all that committed to coming back there were rumors that he was going to take off a year. Now, that could have been true or it could have been tactical efforts to get out of that contract. Ainge is just as dirty as Doc but Doc is the one leaving, though so obviously we are going to focus on the dude walking away.

Once again Doc's leaving wasn't all on him though. He was at the Celtic's mercy in terms of coaching for the next 3 years. As far as Jackie Mac goes, reporters get shyt wrong ALL THE TIME.
