Does Adeles skin color have anything to do with her high record sales?

Doubt it, she's fat and not super attractive. Her voice is majestic

These type of threads are exercises in futility

Of course it does, if B. Spears can go diamond, a woman with actual talent can do very well.

Unfortunately in the biz, Blacks don't get that push even though we gave them that style to run with....

Especially not in THIS current industry. I don't know why nikkas don't get this.

And it isn't that the talent/quality isn't there. Black artists don't have big budgets behind them anymore and the shyt is obvious. Especially not an r&b artist, who is also Black and female. SZA and Mary J dropped two of the most critically acclaimed albums this year and them shyts ain't even at 200k domestically. Keyshia Cole's shyt is about to flop epically and the music is dope as hell.

As long as they got cacs imitating the very shyt we do, ain't no need to have Black artists on the forefront anymore. shyt is fukked up but it's the industry. That's why I said yesterday in another thread -- people can say whatever they want about Bey and Rihanna. But they are legit the ONLY two Black female singers making legitimate noise these days. They should get props just for that alone.

Adeles appeal since "Chasing Pavements" has always been about her being the white girl that just so happens to have a soulful voice.
Yes I remember Chasing Pavements. I am not a huge fan of Adele but I remember her from that song from the album 19. That 21 (I think) album was the one that was the most successful (Rolling In the Deep). Adele is lucky as fuk but what markets her so good is that she different from the rest but still can do her and be successful. She lacks MAINSTREAM sex appeal that other female artists typically have (particularly white women like Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, and other race women like Rihanna).

Then she is a white woman that has a SOULFUL HEAVY DISTINCT voice. Sam Smith is another artist who has that soulful voice and somehow people go crazy over white people who sing with that soulful voice. Look how they went off on Sam Smith when he song that song with Mary J Blige. Same when white folks do shyt that blacks do like dance, step, etc. We go off on that and give them high praise. I personally think that Jesse J (who did song with Arianna Grande and Nicki) has a great voice just as good as Adele but she has more sex appeal and stage presence.

Next, she is overweight (no shaming at all), doesn't have much stage presence except her voice, can't or doesn't want to dance, and doesn't have to use any props or gimmicks for attention or shock value (like Lady Gaga). She is so non conventional whereas some see it as refreshing, relatable, and see her as something different. She was a horrible choice for a potential Superbowl halftime and even Adele said she isn't right for a haltime show and rejected it.

But to answer question....of course skin color has something to do with her success...but its other aforementioned factors as well...and it all comes together for Adele. She can do her and still reach different demographics....races, cultures, age groups, genres, genders, etc. Her voice and unconventional attributes helps her to stand out.

Meh. My problem with Adele is she is not necessarily "raw talent". Adele is literally a product of a "hit factory", the BRIT School of Performing Arts. Hence why she sounds like: Marsha Ambrosois, Leona Lewis, Jessie J, Amy Winehouse...they all sound like they had the same vocal coaches because they did. A school created by the government and funded by the British record industry, lol. They were manufactured at a school teaching them how to sing like "Black Americans". And we eat that shyt up every.damn.time , comparing our naturally gifted Black people against robotic, mediocre whites who were TRAINED to sound like US.:mjlol:
This explains why I compared Adele's voice and singing ability to Jesse J.

Excellent fukkin point! I was just about to ask does top 40 mainstream radio play Black music like that? Because I know for a fact these White "crossover" artists get played on urban/rhythmic radio. Justin Bieber, Sam Smith, Ariana, Adele, etc. I live in the DMV. They even had a go-go remake of that boring ass "Hello" song. nikkas are really delusional if they think Adele's race isn't being used to push her across every market possible. That's exactly why her boring ass music reaches so many people.

her being able to actually sing i suppose has nothing to do with it? :francis:

she came along at the right time...her story resonated with people and she sold.....

you know it is possible for some things in life to NOT have anything to do with race

Ya'll nikkas is straight bugging if u think her whiteness doesn't play a role in her success.
If everything else in the entertainment operates under black excellence vs white mediocrity, why would she be any different? And i say this as a fan of the woman, having all three albums.
Hometown Glory was my favorite cut from 19.

19 was before she got the songwriters that came onboard for her sophmore album.
It was more folk musicish, uk bluesy sounding like Duffy and other british soul acts of the 2008-2010 era.
And it went platinum, but 21 is where they decided to push her voice towards adult pop, and the world went crazy. For a white woman who sings like a black woman.
The only thing one can say in regards to her and other singers currently, is that her tone is very distinct.

Emeli Sande is a woman who's just as talented a singer as Adele, and a better more varied artist in terms of involvement in the process. She's given nothing.

White people would rather their children listen to fellow white people. They've historically feared a taint coming through the music, and thats why mediocre white artists(Timberfake, Bieber, etc) who sound blackish tend to do well.
