It’s simple:
  • More cardio: this is essential for brain health. Increases BDNF which is neuroprotective
  • Meditate: Helps with attention, has some evidence to indicate it slows brain aging.
  • Learn: Engage in activities that are mentally taxing. Learn a new skill whether it’s language, instrument or hobby. Video games are also good for brain health in moderation.
  • Sleep: Super obvious one that everyone knows, but can fukk you up long term. Being sleep deprived is almost like being intoxicated and horrible for your cognitive functioning

From this video says brain fog is caused by 2 chemicals: cortisol and opioids
Brain does this protect us from prolonged pain/stress/trauma

Video pretty much explains it

Above the fray.
A few days ago I came to the realization that I feel way "dumber" than I used to compared to ten years ago.

Back when I was in college a decade ago, my mind felt razor sharp. I could slog through dry textbooks without losing focus, I could hold a conversation without using a bunch of filler words, and my memory and information recall was on point.

It seems like now, for the past several years, my mind feels foggy, my thoughts feel jumbled, my speech often sounds stilted and unsure, and my memory feels weak -- unless I'm at work where I need to be "on".

Outside of work, I feel sluggish, lazy, and unmotivated. As a child I loved reading and would devour multiple books in a day, but now I can barely stay focused after reading two pages if I don't wind up falling asleep after 15 minutes into attempting to read a book.

After I get home from work all I feel like doing is making something to eat and zoning out to mindless bullshyt on YouTube until it's time to go to bed.

Rinse, repeat. Day by day.

This shyt's been happening with me since around 2022.

Wtf is going on? :mjcry:

You just have more real life responsibilities now, and less time for leisure .
Booklovers eventually switch to audiobooks, as you will.

And you should try to pick up old hobbies you had, and attend activities /conventions centered around that. You will meet other people who you share interests with.

No lie, I'm definitely addicted to the internet. Last month my wifi went out for two days and after work when I would get home during that time I would just sit around and check my connection every 15 minutes. I felt like Pookie from "New Jack City" because my dopamine receptors are so damn fried :mjlol:

Its like this...

We are currently experiencing a big culture and life shift unlike any that has ever happened before. And with that comes brain rot, but it also welcomes a better change. Right now it seems like the world is getting dumber, but maybe it's all in our heads because we are technically OGs that are growing together.

Its like back in the 70s to 80s with technology, politics, and society going at alarming speeds to a weird paradox that ends up being adapted upon.

The landscape seems foreign, but we will survive it because we know the end game. A huge part of this is the constant doomscrolling, refreshing The Coli page, and being so consumed with memes and the ills of society. Sometimes you got to detox and see for yourself that it's all in the mind. Of course, you are going to be like "huh :dwillhuh: "after manifesting in a smartphone or the computer for hours on end. Its all by design.

Just like television made you feel dumber...you watch it for hours on end in the 80s.

Just like you play too many video games....you play them too much in the 90s.

Just like you listen to the radio a lot.....you are near the gramophone in the 30s

Bottom line, just log off and take a breather. Go hit up the libraries, go to a park, museum, hell the beach. I promised you, its just all in the mind.

What's your daily screen time?
Between both my phone and laptop whenever I'm off work, easily 6 to 9 hours per day unless I'm at the gym, and even then when I'm at the gym I use my phone to listen music or a podcast and track my lifting progress while I'm working out, so:francis:
