I feel like my recall isn't as great as it was when I was younger. Like random things such as trivia/stats that when I was a kid or even up until my college years. I'd just have on deck in the brain. But, now days I'm just more likely to look it up and confirm my memory or get that stat. I don't feel that I'v dumbed myself down, but I do feel that I've made my brain take a lazy route.

The Truth
Its like this...

We are currently experiencing a big culture and life shift unlike any that has ever happened before. And with that comes brain rot, but it also welcomes a better change. Right now it seems like the world is getting dumber, but maybe it's all in our heads because we are technically OGs that are growing together.

Its like back in the 70s to 80s with technology, politics, and society going at alarming speeds to a weird paradox that ends up being adapted upon.

The landscape seems foreign, but we will survive it because we know the end game. A huge part of this is the constant doomscrolling, refreshing The Coli page, and being so consumed with memes and the ills of society. Sometimes you got to detox and see for yourself that it's all in the mind. Of course, you are going to be like "huh :dwillhuh: "after manifesting in a smartphone or the computer for hours on end. Its all by design.

Just like television made you feel dumber...you watch it for hours on end in the 80s.

Just like you play too many video games....you play them too much in the 90s.

Just like you listen to the radio a lot.....you are near the gramophone in the 30s

Bottom line, just log off and take a breather. Go hit up the libraries, go to a park, museum, hell the beach. I promised you, its just all in the mind.
Age of Aquarius… :ehh:

2024 and the Age of Aquarius:

2024 is seen as a particularly significant year for the transition into the Age of Aquarius, with Pluto entering the sign of Aquarius, potentially accelerating the themes of change and transformation. This period may involve:

    • Overthrowing unjust regimes: Individuals may feel more empowered to challenge authority and outdated systems.
    • Embracing individuality and truth: A focus on personal growth, speaking one's truth, and acting on one's intuition.
    • Coming together for collective action: The need to address social issues and work together for a better future.
In essence, the Age of Aquarius is a time of profound change, urging humanity to move towards a more harmonious, interconnected, and innovative future.

Between both my phone and laptop whenever I'm off work, easily 6 to 9 hours per day unless I'm at the gym, and even then when I'm at the gym I use my phone to listen music or a podcast and track my lifting progress while I'm working out, so:francis:

Yeah man that’s the problem. Getting your phone screen time below 3 hours and a good night sleep will help immensely. I predict we’re going to see different lifespans between people who have lower screen time vs higher screen times.

A few days ago I came to the realization that I feel way "dumber" than I used to compared to ten years ago.

Back when I was in college a decade ago, my mind felt razor sharp. I could slog through dry textbooks without losing focus, I could hold a conversation without using a bunch of filler words, and my memory and information recall was on point.

I feel the opposite. I felt like a dumbass in college, even though I didn't really study until my final 5th year. Almost 15 years later I feel like pick up things difficult quicker than when I was young. I'm a better note taker and I retain things much easier.

Sometimes I lowkey feel smarter than my colleagues but then I realize I'm surrounded by idiots like me who put little effort into their work.

But I think that's the difference. Challenge yourself more. Your increase your confidence which will increase you competency. You'll trick yourself into feeling smarter.

Or microdose cocaine like my bosses do.

I’m a lot wiser and have a greater understanding of things compared to ten years ago but I know I was “faster” in terms of my mental processing. I guess that’s wisdom/experience compared to youth. I have tried to get back into reading and spending less time on screens. In college, I used to burn through 30-40 books per year and in recent years, its been like none.

I don't feel dumber, in all areas. Some I'm very very sharp (such as interacting with people). But writing is actually quite a bit harder for me at the moment. Namely my sugar habits and lack of practice

It's not that I don't want to learn more or read more, it's that the will to do it feels gone.

My life felt more optimistic ten years ago, but now after having to go through some much stress and bullshyt just to survive over the years it's like my brain is on "power save mode" or something.

The drive to learn new things and increase my knowledge is still there for me, but it manifests itself in library books that I never wind up reading and a clogged up "watch later" playlist on my YouTube account.
This is depression. Go to a therapist. Go to a doctor too but just for bloodwork refuse any antidepressants if they try to prescribe them to you and tell them you'd like to try therapy only first. Give therapy a shot and if in a month or two you dont see any improvement then you can try the antidepressants the doctor offers you.
