I kinda get what OP is saying assuming he's not trolling. I never check for half of this album.

METHOD Man is still one of my favorite joints to this day. Bring Da Ruckus is genius, especially that beat skip at the end. Those are the kind of peculiarities that are totally missing from modern rap and keep it from being classic.

reading rza's book, he was SUPPOSED to sound like this

he went through his machines... every time he got a new one, what they did for his production, and how he used them

clear sound was out for years... he purposely made it sound gritty and unpolished cause that's how he wanted his sound

another thing he did was have a list of settings, different for each member... so ghost had his settings, meth had his... and so on... he says himself that's why they sound different on different albums.. if he wasn't there personally doing the track, nobody else had his settings

and also why future wu albums don't sound like this one.. he never did it again

yeah rza said all the memebrs had different eq sittings on their mics

Most vocal Performaces were flown in using Akai -S-1000 Stereo Sampler. We would sample a lead vocal on the left with a Snare or kik on the right for reference then fly in the verses in their places.

I know the low-fi gutter shyt was what RZA was intentionally going for but wasn't it also true that he couldn't afford more expensive production equipment? like it was super low budget, whether THAT was intentional or not I'm not sure.

shyt was still a masterpiece

Nah, it definitely goes with the era which gave it birth. I guess you just had to be there.

It has 1993 written all over it. It;s a pretty raw 90s street album by any standard.

Every time I listen to it, I feel like I was in Junior High again.

The sensibilities that permeate this album were inspired by the shaw bros. flicks he watched growing up. Assuming this isn't a troll thread

RZA's inspiration

:blessed:

Crazy how Rza picked bits and pieces here and there...

And yeah it's also linked to the era I guess : back in the 90s we were watching and listening to tapes a lot, had grown up listening to these dusty movies and in general everything was less polished. So like @Neva_Die_Alone said it "fit" sonically and maybe even played to some nostalgia for some

it was supposed to sound dirty, gritty, rugged and unpolished exactly like how a kung fu chamber would look

you act like it was called Enter the 36 Carwashes or some shyt :snoop:

I see this frequently, where people don't even take into consideration what the artists/producers are going for on an album when criticizing some aspect of it. It's similar to what I said when I first got here, when people talk about lyricism, more often than not they're talking about multisyllabic rhymes when that's not what the artist was trying to do on the song/album. It's like people have rigid boxes they try to fit everything into because they can only look at everything one way instead of seeing how well they did whatever it is they were trying to do.
