Does anyone else hate small talk?

Humans feel like if we are ignored we don't exist. Small talk is really just about self-validation. "How was your weekend, so I can tell you about mine" "How is your family, so I can tell you about mine" etc etc.

I don't mind making small talk as long as the other person is cool with shutting the fukk up once it runs its course. What really drives me crazy is having to hear OTHER people's small talk.

People see me sitting alone and assume I want their attention then get visibly annoyed when I give no fukks about the drivel they're talking about or give them one word answers as if I'm wrong because they're not interesting

I'm also just incredibly antisocial and I never noticed how weird it is when people tell me hello and how my day is that I just say "good" and don't ask about theirs until someone pointed it out so I try to force a "and how are you" every now and then and it feels like I'm trying to speak russian
