Yes. Ntiklina is solid. Porzingis is a franchise player. Both those guys were booed by most Knicks fans before he drafted them. And Phil proved them wrong twice :smh:

The toughest front office jobs in the league are NY and LAL because of all that pressure and expectations. If Phil worked for a small market team he'd still be employed. Rebuilding takes time and the knicks should have been more patient. If anything Melo was the biggest disappointment and that wasn't Phil's fault :manny:

So Phil is slighted because he sent his guys oversees to scout....:heh:

Every Team In The NBA Scouts Overseas, Mills Loved KP Too, The Majority Of The Higher Ups Had To Like The Pick, I’m Not Saying Phil Shouldnt Get Any Credit But His Credit Is Being Overstated Cause He’s Not With The Team Anymore

His Biggest Credit Should Be Forcing Melo Out, Which Everyone On This Board Was Cursing Him Out For lol

Phil Barely Watched Knicks Games You Think He Was Really Watching Unknowns In Latvia?

We’re An NBA Team With International Scouts

How the Knicks front office talked themselves into Porzingis

Clarence Gaines, Phil Jackson’s top adviser, was so enamored with Kristaps Porzingis, he thought the Knicks should take the 19-year-old if they won the lottery.

Gaines, a Bulls scout during Jackson’s tenure and his only new front-office hire with the Knicks, is considered Jackson’s most trusted personnel guy. Gaines made a scouting trip to Spain last winter to watch the 7-foot-3 Latvian.

Clarence had gone over and seen him and he sent Phil a text and said if he had the first pick of the draft, this is the kid he would take,’’ Knicks general manager Steve Mills said during Monday night’s summer-league telecast from Vegas on MSG Network.

Despite Gaines’ enthusiasim, Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor would’ve been the pick had they landed the No. 1 pick, Mills indicated
Mills also made a trip to Spain to watch Porzingis in the ACB league, and that’s when 21-year-old center Guillermo Hernangomez, whom the Knicks selected in the second round, caught his eye. The Knicks made a deal with the Sixers to take Hernangomez with the 35th pick, and the Knicks plan to have him on the team in 2016-17. Jackson never traveled to Spain to see Porzingis or Hernangomez.

Mills And Gaines Traveled To Watch KP Play, Phil Never Went Anywhere

None of this means anything. You can't kill Phil for drafting then not praise him for drafting when it works out. fukk that disingenuous bullshyt.

Luck.....:dahell:

Phil was held back being that he couldnt get rid of a guy he shytted on from before he was knicks president.......

The luck was that Philly took Okafor before he went to pick number 4. Ask every Knick fan, it was no secret Phil would’ve taken Okafor over Porzingis. In fact, there was talks about moving up to take him.

If Philly chose the point guard (which was the more logical move, but Sam hinke just wanted the best asset). Okafor would be a Knick and Porzingis would’ve been in Sacremento with Boogie Cousins

This has far more to do with Melo than KP, Melo has played with this beast two years now.....

Melo ruined the pre Melo knicks trade knicks, Amare era, and the Jeremy Lin era......But Phil is the devil, not Nelo and Dolan, How the Melo does son come off unscathed is beyond me, New york done got soft......:camby:

Phil deserves credit for the draft pics.

Phil deserves criticism for:

Running the triangle with their roster
Not letting Hornacek run his system
Running his mouth about Melo, etc. to the media.
Free Agent Signing of:noah:
Stealing money from James Dolan with his sub par gm job
Not hooking me up with some Peyote when I emailed him.

Mills And Gaines Traveled To Watch KP Play, Phil Never Went Anywhere

First off....phuk Steve Mills...dude has been with the Knicks organization for how long? and during that time how long have the Knicks sucked????

Who brought Gaines on board? Phil Jackson, right? The bucks stops with Phil, and just as he can get the blame for the disastrous decisions he made - cuz the buck stops with him - he most certainly can get credit for the good decisions as well.

I know it's popular to hate on Phil because he always had the greats on his team, but the man knows more about Basketball than 99% of the people on the planet.

Jordan, Kobe, had GOAT basketball minds and they trusted Phil's Bball acumen.

Phil's name will always be connected with Porzingis, and the more Porzingis improves the more it removes the taint of Phil's tenure here.

I think Melo is a class-act and I was thrilled to have him in a Knicks uniform, but Phil was right, we much better off without him.
