the bars are A1 but he needs to rap over less ATL trap beats, he always uses the same flows on them

when youre as good as he is you dont need trap beats to make hits or become popular
Trap is the sound of the streets though and what young nikkas wanna hear. Ness HBTL is they best in-house producer and he makes a lot of trap-styled beats and just got a huge placement on Drake's upcoming project. He's gonna continue going to his team for beats. This project has less trap beats than Don Season actually which is why I don't get the complaints.

Don can spit, but I'm not really feeling the production. Call me old or whatever but it seems like dude is wasting his potential over these melancholy beats.

I feel the same way, it's not cause your old

He's clearly talented

Nikkas want Don rapping over boom bap and soul loops in 2017 :pachaha:

I understand he's going to keep it modern, but I think he would sound dope over the type of shyt that Drake was using on IYRTITL. Just something with a little more life to it. Would love to hear him over 40, Jake One, or even modern Havoc stuff.

Y'all might not like this post but fukk it, here we go:

Trap beats are usually reserved for "dumbed down" , "mindless" subject matter. Trap beats are tailor made for stripclubs and shyt. Trap beats aren't really conducive to introspective, mature, deep-thinking type songs.

Trap beats usually causes artists to "dumb down" their subject matter and flow.

The very first time I heard Dave East, it was this joint:

This song is actually why I started checking for him. The beat is on some "grown man, mature, fly" shyt. This is some shyt I can bump when I'm 40. I don't listen to Dave when he does that trap shyt. It sounds immature to me.

Like others have said in this thread, trap beats are for the youngins. I'm not a youngin and I guarantee everyone in here wanting Don to spit over less trap beats are older too.

Don is a legit lyricist and us older heads want spitters to spit over beats that compliment actual spitting and more diverse subject and "mature" subject matter. Beats that puts us in a certain mindset. Personally, trap beats puts me in an aggressive mood. I tend to try to stay away from those type beats as much as possible.

I haven't heard this album, I'm just speaking in general.

I like Dave East but just to join the fukkery I would 10 out of 10 Times buy a Don Q album over an East one.

Simpley put Don's lyrics, flow, and beat selection are all better.

Just the better artist, nothing wrong with being #3:lolbron: Lito is better than Dave East too.
