This is what being a NFL QB is all about, being the hero when your not doing your best in a win... and falling on the sword, when you do your best but your team loses.

Sign or trade for a veteran center and veteran LG. Draft best tackles available (or trade up for one if there's a sure fire talent available) and a C for the future.

If Trent plays next year, which feels like a big if, he ain't gonna be a factor unless the team is good. As @yseJ has pointed out, dude is a frontrunner and is only gonna make an effort if we have a chance at the playoffs which is why him just retiring is a real scenario.

Does his extension still counts against our cap if he retires?

Yea I expect us to pick somewhere between 11-14 depending on where the chips may fall that might still be early enough to maybe get perhaps Will Campbell from LSU.
