Neva seen a bigger waste of time than a top 10 list, cause there's at least 30 mcs that put in MAJOR work over the last 25 years....And you just can compare them or rate them! It's just childlike to me....
Now the fact that KOOL G, KRS, KANE and RAKIM are da fathers to every lyrical mc over the last 15 years - that's TRUTH SERUM right there!:shaq:

Not bad

I'd personally put Wayne, Ghost, and Slick for Em, Pun and Kane
Maybe Prodigy or Big over Jay Z

But I can respect his preferences. He fathered 3 or 4 of them dudes on his list.

If you talking "lyricism" and you don"t include Canibus on your list, then your arguments are irrelevant...I don't care if your name is Kool G Rap...

You have no credibility with me...Why is hip hop acting like Canibus is not the greatest lyricist to have ever been exposed to the masses...?

The is NO rapper who has ever released an album (to sell 50K copies or more) who can say he/she is a better lyricist than Canibus...

Are these so called lyricists who claim to be better than Canibus ever written a rhyme like "Poet Laureate 2"...

Hip Hop opinion is a joke...

Son really going in about fukking Canibus being a top 10 MC. Internet breeds a lot of weirdos

I'll one-up the weirdo factor and say that MC Paul Barman is a technically stronger lyricist. Say what you may about having a large vocabulary, rhyming a palindrome is on another level.

With that being said, Googling "MC Paul Barman" and "sales" don't seem to go hand in hand. :skip:

Obviously people care what G Rap has to say, I know I do. Some of you act like children getting all upset cause he didn't have the exact same top 10 as you lol. I don't agree fully with the list.... but it's all good it's his opinion so what's the problem? G Rap is a legend, I'm interested in what he's got to say and don't expect to agree with everything, we're all human beings with different views, perspectives and opinions.

Pretty much all the greats have Eminem in their top 10

Don't know about that. Does Melle Mel? Chuck D? Grandmaster Caz? K-Rino? KRS-One? Biggie and Pac obviously never got a chance to. Neither did Pun. Did Guru? Big Daddy Kane? Slick Rick? Scarface? LL Cool J? Raekwon?... The greats that probably do are Rakim, G Rap, Jay Z, possibly Nas? Not sure who else.

In before nikkas start trying to say he has an agenda to get an album placement or some stupid shyt

You gotta consider who's making this list...compare canibus to g-rap....bis has words, he's a wordsmith, but the nikka is not someone who's going to ride beats or come with some innovative patterns. Look at a lot of the emcees he named, they are basically his kids.

We are talking "lyricist" here...Canibus' penmanship actually improved over the years...Here is why...

At the first Canibus was just using big words and scientific concepts to pretty much say "I am a better MC than you"...Something that Rakim pretty much did throughout his prime, and yet Rakim's one-dimensional approach is never scrutinized...

Ra wasn't scrutinized because it was the late 80's, by the time 96-97 rolls around things have evolved to the point that just rapping about rapping will keep you within a certain niche.

Your perception of him not being scrutinized leaves out the fact that while he is certainty respected as a forefather of complex lyricism, his run as a front runner didn't last that long. He didn't get to stick around and be relevant enough to be "that nikka" to be getting scrutinized so heavily.

You take a year or two off in the 90's and come back and all of a sudden you got so many different sounding rappers compared to when Hip hop was very much localized in NY where rakim was king shyt. The game moved too fast for him.
