I have to say I was thinking about this exact moment when reading this article. It felt like this was the moment where Ja was completely losing it in the public (commercial) eye. However, I also remember thinking, "damn, 50 has everybody s***ting on Ja now." I remember the kid in the audience saying something about people being tired of the singing. I'm probably not remembering his exact words correctly, but I do remember that at the time thinking the reaction to the song was a product of 50 smearing Ja's name/career. That video debut was in 2003, and 50 already had the whole Back Down diss and Wanksta video mocking Ja getting his chain snatched in 2002.

Regardless, I definitely remember feeling like the debut of that video was a standout moment in Ja's downfall.
yup
thats what i was talkin bout

hey...
i wont sit here and front like 50 didnt have ANYTHING to do with this mans fall off with the public
but you gotta understand, i literally watched people go from "what would i be without my bay-baaaaaaay!" :ahh:
to
"this fukkin guy again?":what:

:deadmanny:

and that aint have shyt to do with 50 Cent being an amatuer in hypnosis :pachaha:

I remember Ja Rule having to cancel the Canadian leg of his tour. That was a first. I never saw a rapper b4 then having to cancel a whole part of a tour because of unpopularity as a result of beef with anot her rapper.
Even with the Biggie Pac beef nobody's tour got altered. In fact interest increased even after death.

Venni Vetti Vecci =1 Million Records Sold
Rule 3:36 =3 Million Records Sold.

Pain Is Love 3 Million Records Sold
Last Temptation 1 Million Records Sold

JA Rule did nothing for his own demise he made music that people enjoyed.

i noticed something.

i think the main reason why jarule being a pop rapper gets overlooked is because most of the people who really cared about this beef for the long haul like that were kids & casuals.

i think thats why alot of people are misinformed about alot of stuff concerning this.

thats because this was bigger than justt 50 cent vs jarule.

people need to stop comparing this to regular rap battles. there was way more in play, from the feds to industry & media politics.

most of all, jarule was a pop rapper at this point.

It was a combination of fickle fan bases. People got tired of the singing. The feds/arrogance. Thinking he's untouchable on his way down. 50 cents rise and kicking ja down at the sametime. Then tryna become street after being the r&b dude to charlie baltimore. He didn't know how to balance shyt out. By keeping his core fan base and making r&b records. I couldn't stand him before 50 got at him.
Once Pain is love dropped I couldn't fukk with the fake pac.

yep.

jarule was the most hated rapper in the game for a good year and some change(no pun intended) before 50 cent hit the mainstream.
