yo this is great.... we have a similar sort of thing - I didn't really think too much into the direct deposits into black banks though. my boy mentioned something about that though and I think it's a great idea.I appreciate the meticulous nature of your post breh, but not everyone on this site is the READING type if you catch my drift
It's deeper than just teaching certs though it's about starting to build true communities:
- Make sure all the students get their direct deposits sent to a black bank
- Have the bank teach courses on financial literacy to make sure they don't start blowing money on rims and other dumb shyt.
- Incentivize the students to stay in the community once they get a new job
- Incentivize them to spend their money with other black businesses.
- And some other key critical initiatives like making sure they get an account on the coli
There's another group we're working with that got a pretty simple yet effective plan to just all of the community based stuff (supposed to meet the head of that organization pretty soon), and I'm gonna help them on the technology side of it as well. Atlanta is pretty much ground zero for this shyt and I'm pretty much using Dr. Anderson's blueprint (which is why I want to hire him to come on as a consultant to give us guidance).
trust me.... the financial literacy part is 10x harder to ingrain into the minds, than the certs and the rest. Telling a dude who just started making 30/hr - after he was just a random hood nikka to not stunt.....
If he doesn't have kids then double challenge. I was like Kanye when i first started doing shyt.. nearly 10 years ago.. like Kanye " can't tell me nothin" Pretty much had to rebuild after that.
And yeah, more of us should be listening to speakers like Dr. Anderson. It seems trivial but it's not.
