Best of times, man.

I still have boxes and boxes of TDK's and Maxell's from that era. Staying up mad late to record that show from the very beginning all the way til when they ended it. Never missed a show. Taping that back then was like a religious experience for us.

say word. son, i lost all my cassettes in hurricane sandy. i'm talking going back to dj red alert and mr magic rap attack let alone my bobbito joints with souls of mischief first appearance, cella dwellas tearing it down, and wu taking over for like 30 minutes of nothing but rhyming back to back

:jbhmm: any chance you might transfer that crack from tape to digital and make it available via youtube or download my G?

I need to take the time to digitize a lot of them. I took a few things and digitized them back in like 2011. Random freestyles and songs that I never saw online. I did the Cella Dwellas first time up there with Lord Digga playing his beats, Casual's first time up there alone, and Supernat with Ghetto Communicator, Kurious and Lord Sear freestyle from '93, just random things. But I still need to really get all of them done. Stretch reached out to me on Twitter awhile back asking if I could let him borrow some of the tapes, I told him he was buggin'. LOL!!

lol oh shyt no, stretch? :dead: don't tell me that, jesus christ

but you know what that makes sense because in the radio that changed lives documentary dj fifty grand had a '91 freestyle from biggie which was his first appearance on the show (still looking for his '93 freestyle where he says he fukked up larry johnson and his grandmama, remember? lol) and they didn't even have a copy of that epic moment. and of course biggie was heated on the show that day because they had a demo battle and he lost to some kids named bronx zu lmao

cella dwellas and digga, yup, definitely remember it and i never heard casual's solo, only heard when he went up there with hiero. and let nikkas sleep on kurious and think it's just walk like a duck. he was serious off the head for real

all that stuff is on youtube son? if so i'm gonna check for all of that crack immediately and get to downloading hard. account name for easy finding?

Andre has constantly shytted on the idea of making hip hop music after your 20s.

That doesn't mean he hates Hip Hop. It doesn't even make sense when he still does features with MC's and he still raps on those features.

Not wanting to rap after your 20's isn't exactly a novel idea. Game dissed Jay Z for rapping well into his 30's. Even Jay Z tried to sell us on "30's the New 20" as if 30 was old. Eminem said the fire expires at 30. And if you really think about it, no rapper has made their best music after 30 except Jay's Blueprint. Nas had dropped Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, and God's Son (all of his best material) by age 29. Were Jay and Nas still dope after their turning 30? Of course, but were they at their best?

Whether or not he has solo work behind him is irrelevant, if said work is not used to make his case for being elite. No rapper who is discussed as a GOAT level MC is in that discussion because they have solo work. It is because they have iconic albums.
yes the hell it is, and almost all of the highly talked about solo rappers have a catalog .andre is the only one who is regarded without work

They aren't highly talked about because they have a solo catalog though. They are spoken highly of because of the quality of the work. That was my point with Prodigy. Who really puts any of Prodigy's solos up against the classics of Rakim, Jay, Nas, Biggie, Pac, etc. If people are speaking highly of Prodigy in relation to GOATs, they are most likely using Infamous or Hell On Earth or his guest spots to make that case. Therefore, simply having a solo catalog is irrelevant.

Lol alot of the nikkas on this site and other places who praise Prodigy put up and refer to his act as a solo by talking about his solo work.

and HARDLY if not at all is there a rapper who from a group praised and coveted like 3000. And those who are, are as I said, a rapper with a solo work(ex: Ghostface, Bizzy)

Y’all sound like some entitled brats in here crying because y’all can’t get what you want

These musicians don’t owe y’all nothing, their music is a reflection of them and if they don’t want to make anymore who are you to complain

Dre gave us The Love Below anyway and a lot of mfs don’t even acknowledge it because he’s not rapping and it was released as “OutKast”

And him not wanting to perform old stuff makes sense, he was constantly changing and evolving as a human being, that’s evident based on the music he was apart of. He’s 40 something why would he want to be performing stuff he made as a youngin

Nobody who speaks about Prodigy as an elite MC is putting HNIC, Return of the Mac, or any of his other solos among the ranks of Illmatic, Ready To Die, Reasonable Doubt, Paid In Full, or Me Against The World. Not even are they mentioned among It Was Written, Life After Death, Follow The Leader, or All Eyez On Me.

Nobody puts Ghostface in a GOAT convo because he has a solo catalog. It is because he has a CLASSIC solo album to his credit in Supreme Clientele. Bizzy has solo albums, but rarely does he get mentioned among elite MC's which is my point. A solo catalog is irrelevant. Its all about the quality of the work.
