Cant even fathom how someone picks Dream over Timmy. Reminds me of the Tim vs KG discussions, with some of the same arguments coming from Dream supporters that came from KG supporters. I rock with Dream, so do not take any of this as slander. Probably top 15 player all time. But Tim is the GOAT PF, Top 5 player of all time.

People are getting enamored with the peak years of Dream and completely ignoring the years he could not lead his team out of the first or second round in the at the time mediocre western conference. Its like people forget basketball prior to 95. Dream was eliminated IN THE FIRST ROUND FOUR CONSECUTIVE YEARS DURING THE PRIME OF HIS CAREER!!! And he followed up those first round exits by missing the playoffs the year after that. Like really brehs? I get everybody was too busy watching the Bulls win rings during those years to pay attention to anything else, but these are facts. You can look it up if you want. If that happened during the modern era, he would get slaughtered by everybody on this board for having good stats but no wins (see Chris Paul).

DUNCAN IS NOT TOP 5 OF ALL TIME, STOP THAT....HE'S A GREAT PLAYER, BUT ALSO THE PRODUCT OF A SYSTEM AND LUCKY ENOUGH TO PLAY ON GREAT TEAMS FOR THE DURATION OF HIS CAREER.

the ether
I love both of them. Both of them are probably top-10 all-time. But I gotta take Hakeem. Dominant Hakeem was the greatest all-around big man I've ever seen.

HAKEEM 10 TIMES OUTA 10 AND IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE

The irony.

lmao

Youre mentioning jobber ass role players

Fact: hakeem was a better offensive player
fact: hakeem was a better defensive player

Duncan had a better career, but if were talking prime its hakeem and its not even close

But we are not talking about prime...we are talking about careers...

And Duncan didn't have a "better career" he was "a better play over a longer period of time"

And all of this "but Duncan had his minutes limited" talk doesn't make sense...as if Duncan himself didn't play a role in that...

Like...you think you could have gone to Shaq and said "Hey shaq we want to extend your career for a few years so we want to play you less as time goes on...let Kobe drive for awhile"

Obviously that is not the way it went down...

You think you could have done that with Hakeem...because I remember before he was viewed as a gentle giant african with savant post moves he was doing stuff like this...

You think you could go to Hakeem Slapacacuwon and be like "Hey big fella we need to tail your minutes back we want you to be around for 5 more years"

I don't think you could have...I think Slapacacuwon would have pushed your wig back, told you to shut the fukk up and make sure he got the ball 25 times...

It's always :russ: to me what people remember players for...cause I remember Hakeem as a straight goon on the court before I remember him as anything else...:russ:

What did duncan do better than hakeem?

No one can answer that question

Stay healthy? :lolbron:

If ppl wanna argue prime dream vs prime Duncan, than all their accolades go out the window cuz those are a function of longevity and what not.

Jus off the eyeball test I'd choose Hakeem. That guy was freakishly agile for someone so big. His game was so smooth and pretty. Looking like a guard out there dribbling :wow:

Hakeem Olajuwon is truly on some god shyt on thecoli its so weird to me

because those of us old enough to have seen him play remember how godly he was those two years.

He did in 99, 03, and 05
David Robinson was still solid in 1999. He put up 18 and 10 in the season and 17 and 12 in the finals.

and let's not act like Ginobili and Parker were not solid in 2005. They were both putting up like 17 points a game

Clearly you don't know how to read properly.

Duncan is obviously the more successful of the two but who would you rather build around and who do you think is the better, more impactful player?

Hakeem did everything Duncan could do but better

That ends the conversation

Duncan is a top five big man, olajuwon arguably the goat

:heh: comparing the dream to the spurs SYSTEM

He won more and dumb nikkas still taking about system

Tim Duncan is the foundation and focal point of that system. There is NO Spurs system without Duncan :snoop:
