If he wasnt always a leader he certainly became one. He was always a leader by example, i dont think anyone worked harder and watched more footage then Kobe did

Lakers had a great 3 year run when they went to the finals 3 years in a row and won twice, contrary to popular belief Kobe did pass to his teammates. He was an effective leader on and off the court
I'm not sure what being a leader means when looking at how great someone's skillset was. Tim Duncan probably was less of a leader than Stephen Jackson but he's the goat power forward and a respected champion.

Its when you dont need to jump on another alpha's back. KD is insecure, not the strongest guy emotionally. Steph is the leader emotionally, Duncan was mentally strong and unshakeable. KG found out time and time again.

Durant might have said he wanted to be #1 but when it came time to do it he often deferred to Russ, now hes basically part of the western conference all stars. I already said it but id take that as a compliment, shyt if that was the Knicks i wouldnt even bother with posters like myself, id ignore them and enjoy the run.

Your probably not gonna change too many minds around here, thats how it typically goes. Although what @Swagnificent pulled off in the Ernie Johnson thread :whoo:

I thought that nikka was gonna get a neg train but it turned around quickly, you hardly ever see that on the coli :mjlol:

If that was the case he could've stayed with that alpha Russ since leadership is so important.

I crunched the numbers the other day and Durant's about 1.5 years behind LeBron in points right now. So if he wants to pass LeBron in points, he really has to play at least a year older than him, probably two. He's too far behind to do it by outpacing him.

Rings are up in the air, but no one is going to rate Durant based on his hanger-on rings any more than people rate John Havlicek for his 8.

For the first time in history nikkas are devaluing rings and dismissing them as asterisk rings smh.
:why:

You never heard of people putting an asterisk on rings until now? :beli:

He could match him in points

He'll probably have more rings and finals MVPs too:mjpls:

It'll be an interesting discussion once the dust settles, it's not as cut and dry as Bron stans would have u believe
Nah, for at least a generation everyone is going to remember that LeBron had 4 MVPs, 3 Finals MVPs, and a 17-4 record over Durant AFTER Durant joined the league until KD latched onto a 73-win team.

They're also going to watch a billion LeBron highlights for every one KD highlight.

I don't see how Durant overcomes that. People like Oscar or Wilt who get overrated in retrospect due to stats have some sort of overwhelming accomplishment, KD has never had that. And the rings aren't going to be seen as any bigger than Havlicek's rings - no one goes off about Havlicek being better than Jerry West and he has WAY more rings, but everyone and their mama knows West was way better when they were actually playing.

Here's another way to look at it. MVP votes since Durant came into the league.

2008: LeBron 4th, Durant no votes
2009: LeBron 1st, Durant no votes
2010: LeBron 1st, Durant 2nd
2011: LeBron 3rd, Durant 5th
2012: LeBron 1st, Durant 2nd
2013: LeBron 1st, Durant 2nd
2014: Durant 1st, LeBron 2nd
2015: LeBron 3rd, Durant no votes
2016: LeBron 3rd, Durant 5th
2017: LeBron 4th, Durant 9th
2018: LeBron 2nd, Durant 7th

Who is going to rank Durant higher than LeBron in history when everyone ranked LeBron above Durant damn near EVERY season they ever played?
