Maybe YOU should do that. You would be surprised.

He was a white Donovan McNabb, the only difference is that Elway ended his career with stacked teams while Donovan was kicked to the curb.

:pachaha:The 98' Broncos are one of the most loaded teams I've ever seen in my Life across the board. From the online, to the recievers, to the TE, to the MVP running back to the defense etc

Donovan will always be underrated. He made Andy Reid as much as Reid made him. Donovan was a very good QB, if he had 1 or 2 SB, he'd be a top 15 QB.
This dude :to: messed everything up. :manny:

On Elway: He was top 10 TD, top 10 pass attempted/completed, top 10 pass% INT, Top 10 GW drives before 1993. Also made the pro-bowl too.

I thought Joe Namath sucked too:ohlawd: once i looked at his stats but when i went back compared them to QBs of that era, :dwillhuh:i realized that his numbers were very good.

I despise the fact that so many put him ahead of Marino. It just baffles my mind how they could be "Witnesses" and allow how their stories ended to put one ahead of the other.

It's one of the few things in sports that legitimately angers me.

Lets not over-correct and underrate him, by saying he was trash. He didnt play with many weapons, and he didnt play in a system that played to his strengths. That said, entering Elway in a discussion of greatest QB of all time is the very definition of overrating. His career doesnt merit that. He was one of the better QB's of his era. Thats all.

Yeah he is and if he played today there is no way he makes it to year 15 to get that first SB on TD's back. His lore is mostly based in the most overrated stat there is...comeback victories.

his numbers are middle of the road when you compare him to his peers.

Dude was an overrated QB.

On the Redskins message board, I said Eli Manning has had a better career than Elway at similar points, and those old idiots tried to take my head off. I posted their season by season numbers and how they ranked against their peers, and they were still mad even though the facts were in their face.

Elway was a great player, def a HOFer, but he benefited from a few things to keep his hype up:
a) dude had a lot of made for TV moments in his career which stuck in peoples minds, "The Drive" "Mile High Magic" etc.... and this all happened in the 1980s which is where the explosion of TV media took place. Its why famous people from the 80s are more revered than any other period in the 20th century, imo. Especially athletes.

b) He looks like the prototypical QB. Every QB since Elway has been compared to dude physically. Like every QB is supposed to be 6'4", 220 lbs, with a huge arm, and athletic enough to gain yards with their legs. I have no idea why this dude was chosen as the prototype over other QBs, but its him and no one else.

c) The myth that he carried the Broncos as a one man team. This shyt is what is keeping a guy like Karl Mecklenberg from serious HOF consideration, imo. Denver had a very good defense that kept Elway in games that he was pulling stupid hijinks early on so that he could have his made for TV moment and take most of the credit.

Its pretty sad that many would put Elway over QBs like Montana, Favre, Brady, Marino, Manning, Fouts, Staubach, and many other great QBs. Elway did not have a better career than an Eli Manning, yet when you say that people get emotional.
:whoa:
Lets not carried away now. Elway would sh1t on Eli and put up crazy stats in todays era. How talented were those Bronco teams early on his career?

It's pisses me off as well when I hear people say Elway >>> Marino because of the two rings and that is their only argument. And by rating Elway over Marino does a disservice to Elway as well. Elway was a very good QB but when you have him over Marino you're going to have a lot of people discredit everything he accomplished.

It's scary to think of what Marino could have done with those weapons Elway had at the end of his career. His two best weapons of his career were Clayton and Duper and I was too young to really remember them but from what I understand they were above average receivers that Marino made great.

Speaking as a Denver Bronco fan who was a fan from 1992-1998, I can definitely say that Elway was the GOATest QB I've ever seen.

And his restaurant is good and is the spot for cougars in Denver :datazz:
