Lmao how did this spiral into a racial issue?

Especially seeing how thiss thread has been done before and it never went that route.

Kendrick told the story like he was impressed by Em taking the purist/MC stance on the issue because he feels the same way. This had to have happened before King Kunta came out unless I'm trippin. And he was calling out ghostwriting on that track while proclaiming himself a king.

I remember the Kia Shine shyt but I also remember people saying he got credit either for the sample or the hook, so I gave it a pass....

But this nikka using ENITRE ghostwritten songs legitimately had me like :gucci:

As much as I don't care for Drake's music, I never thought he was using ghostwriters before the revelation. I'm pretty sure a lot of people were shocked and didn't figure it beforehand on some Sherlock Homeboy "I knew it all along, HO HO HO!!!" shyt. :francis:

It was before King Kunta, I remember this story. He was telling this story either not long before MMLP2 dropped or not long after. I can see where Coli posters are coming from, but this IS Kendrick we're talking about -- the same rapper coming off of GKMC, Control AND the BET Cypher. Considering how there's not a lot of rappers who can write like that anymore (as far as the mainstream is concerned), I could see Em's logic being "I think he's legit, but let me just make sure." I get it.

Or, Em could've been hating on the low. We'll never know. :manny:

But we do know is that in the end, Kendrick seemed to have proved himself enough to be able to get himself on a track with Em and get the props. And he can get away with doing this, because it's Em. He's a top lyricist in his field, Kendrick could've said "nah", but consider how bad that'd make him look. Had Drake been in the same spot and he said nah, everyone would've been like "Nah? :mjpls:" Knowing Kendrick, he probably welcomed it and just did his thing like he always does. So this is all a non-issue. If anything, this just tells you there's nothing funny going on when it comes to him. His pen is certified.
