RICHARD LITTLEJOHN: Welcome to the House of Fun... We are being hamstrung by selfish refuseniks insisting they have a right to work from home for ever

As long-suffering readers of this column will be aware, I cut my teeth as an industrial correspondent, covering countless stand-offs between employers and trades unions.

The miners’ strike, the steel strike, the engineering strike, the Ford strike, the British Leyland toolmakers’ strike, the lorry drivers’ strike, the Winter of Discontent, the flexible rogering dispute on the railways — you name it, your Uncle Rich was only ever as far as the nearest pub away from the action.

Back then, the late 1970s to mid-1980s, the workers had the whip hand. It was only after Mrs Thatcher crushed Arthur Scargill and Rupert Murdoch outflanked the print unions at Wapping that the balance of power began to change.

Working from home for 5 years was great . I was able to do all my work in 3 out of the 8 hours I was clocked in.

:mjlol: I remember putting my boss on hold to flip the chicken one time and a client on hold to go pick my kid up from school early ‘cause he was sick.

I definitely did my job, but there was some flexibility

If you don't want to come back to the office, then just don't come back. Don't like it? We can outsource your position to Indians/Filipinos/etc...

Americans aren't thinking smart....Being in the office shows how important you are....

WFH post-pandemic and vaccines are just babies and dead weight....

Let em go!!!

It's not gonna be easy to outsource jobs overseas due to the time difference. I was just at a company that was hiring a bunch of foreigner workers. And it was a major pain for them because of time difference and regulations. That's why they we're trying so hard to get visas approved to bring so many to the US to work instead. They had to turn back around and rehire a bunch of people in the US after laying off so many in favor of foreign workers.

If companies think it's hard keeping track of WFH employees in the states. Try doing the same thing for foreign workers overseas in a totally different timezone. Talk about a shyt show these clowns overseas will jack up shyt yet never own up to it until it's too late. And 9 times out of 10 you these companies end up hiring someone overseas with barely any experience because they lie on their resumes all the time.

This is not true at all they are happy to work whenever. Pretty much tech support from Any company is overseas they work our 9 to 5. I have a graphic designer and video editor in phillipines charging $6 an hour they should be charging $50.

Companies would’ve been outsourcing if they could, they already outsource menial tasks like customer service but even then their customers don’t like it.

And being in the office shows how important you are? Breh, most people ain’t trying to be important, we just want the check and leave, fukk all that extra :hhh:

Tech support is a low wage job any moron can do. These were cybersecurity, engineering and IT analyst jobs.
