Okay, Let's stop this;
Edit: Most importantly: be happy to see your fellow brothers and sisters! We don't do this enough. Brothers will mug each other, turn around, smile and say 'yes sir' to someone that doesn't look like them. Sisters will give each other the eye and then compliment some white woman on her purse. These are your people! Be happy do see each other and be happy to see each other doing well!
We have to stop embrancin victimhood (via white people), Tribalism, and hyperbole. All expressed in the bolded.
I'll explain;
Embracing Victim-hood - Racism didn't go nowhere, but, we're at--let's say--40/100, as a people. I believe racism and the current economic system may not allow us to get to 100 or 90 or even 75. But, we have to take responsibility for gettin' as far as we can. Our elders (60's, 70's and the past) seemed to be on the way. Until then, I'm tired of this "that's the other man" talk from black people. Stop it, B! Hating white people will not advance our cause.
Tribalism - I'm all about unity, but, it has to be real. There is no way to get 30 million on the same page. Black people seem to be very narrow-minded about what "advancement," "freedom" is for us. Some of us don't want to be called black or African American. We have different religions, economic goals, domestic conditions (some single, have kids, wives/husbands, etc.)--we are not a monolithic people. We cannot use slavery as the thing that unites us--don't get me started on the whole,
"Barack ain't black, his momma is white and his Dad doesn't have American African slave roots" argument. YES, and some of us have white biological parents. And I'm only touching the tip of the iceberg. My point; stop expecting all of us to agree (that's why I called some of us narrow-minded). We're not c00ns and sellouts if we procreate of people of other races (race; an abritiuary set of standards really designed to separated the poor from the haves--my opinion, of course). We're not c00ns and sellouts because we don't think supporting black businesses will uplift our communities. Look, we live in a global economy; American blacks aren't going too far selling inscents, cologne and African garb (excuse me if that sounds offensive) around the neighborhood. If anything; we need to demand of the Wal-Mart's of the world;
Hey, you want to come to our communities, cool, but, invest in the neighborhoods around you, and clean the store once in a while (hood Wal-Marts are always dirty). I could write an essay, strictly on my feelings, on this issue. We are not the same and should embrace our differences.
Hyberbole - I'm tired of black people embracing the stereotypes that we calm to hate;
"Mean muggin," the
mammae black woman, tap dancing for white people and harassing the black man. This goes back to "embracing victim-hood." A lot of these problems can be fixed if we attacked them early. Example; the sky rocketing rate of out of wedlock birth for blacks. Sure, some are born to two people who just didn't want to marry and may or may not live together. We all have opinions on premarital sex and "shacking up"--that's neither here or there. But, the fact of the matter is; most of this are kids being birthed into dysfunction. We need to start teaching kids about sex, a lot early and more scientific. I'm about the Bible, yes. But, it talks about seeking wisdom and science has a lot of it. We need to work on the sexual stimuli our kids are exposed to (that's not just a black issue). Again, I don't want to rant on and on. But, instead of screamin' "BABY MOMMA EPIDEMIC" and about how
the white man is turning our sisters against us or all this
brothers, with this white women; SHAME, STOP c00nIN, YOUR MOTHER IS BLACK, we are better of looking for solutions, not create more lectures videos on YouTube.
