Bro. It’s not just the fans. Have you seen some of these psychos on Twitter and social media? Literally offended by everything? I do think we need some more conscious music on the forefront. I mean look at the theme music for all these protest. For all the shyt and slander people been tryna throw on 2Pac’s name the last few years. He has literally been the THEME music and spokesman for this shyt happening right now. From his music to interviews. I think the right people will listen if the stations pushed it.

Yea people trying to cancel Kendrick and Cole like they haven't been pushing conscious stuff out in the forefront, they gotta be younger than 21 years old to not appreciate that kinda stuff. It needs to be forced onto them then.

All this stuff was on the radio and tv too. I know people think that shyt is :flabbynsick: now but having shyt like this video next to straight gangsta rap helped get both messages out there so people could pick which one they wanted to follow. We got the most access to music ever now but the bullshyt is still mostly in the mainstream. There’s so much great music being passed on and missed because people haven’t discovered it yet smh. I’m not talking about J Cole or Kendrick, I’m talking about others

Hopefully these times turn the tide, cause i can't see negativity being pushed for long. There's gonna have to be a balance in the music again.

People's have a choice.

It's no longer about the radio.

You don't like what you are hearing, why not just switch the station?

The mainstream media will program as they see fit for the masses to consume.

Speak about the progam directors, hold them accountable.

Hold the major holdings corps responsible who issues the playlists to the stations they own.

If overnight, conscious music was the shyt replacing murderous music, everyone from 21 Savage to YG to even fukkin Tekashi would switch up..

Because that's what the major media establishment will push.

Gangster street music aint popular, it's what's pushed.

I rarely listen to the radio and if i do it is the Jazz station that will be playing, so i can not speak too much on that. But, with content sharing mediums like Youtube and Spotify radio i feel does not have the same power as it did 20-30 years ago.

Who rap about street shyt,

What y’all think about this?

This bytch know damn well these labels won't push any positive rap music or certainly no black empowerment music. How can she be in the industry and not realize this? She look stupid as fukk.

Y’all sure she said this?

Anybody have an actual article or video of her saying these words or all y’all just assuming that she did based on this poorly constructed meme?

Norfeast groovin…
Balance is needed Frfr. Also, a lot of 90s era reality rap (Gangsta rap is a white term lesbianas) came with context to explain the harsh lyrics and mental images being created.

It’s still an important genre imo, especially because it gives an outlet to some of those people that really lived that life. We never discuss what type of trauma and PTSD comes with living a hood ass lifestyle but people with Erykah’s argument think they should just get over it and move on. Riiiight....:mjpls:

Edit: IF this is even her saying this shyt which I find fishy in itself.

Regardless of if she really said it or not, there is some truth to it. I just don't know if canceling rappers is the right way to go about it.

If you go that route there will be push back, if you gonna cancel anybody you should cancel the labels, call for boycotts and really encourage artists that might be open to make a shift in their music.

Hip Hop should be playing an IMPORTANT role in all of the worlds goings on right now and it really doesn't seem that way, not in the current day. Kendrick/Cole done caught more strays for making 'conscious' music than anybody has for going above and beyond to promote black death.

Yeah you want to see rappers doing their part in the streets but rappers should RAP, they have a fukking platform. I honestly think a Kendrick Lamar album would have much more impact than a photo of him outside in a crowd. Ideally I'd like both, but if I could only get one, I'd say an album that springs from this moment in real time could get you more bang for your buck.
