Not really ether. Average QBs been breaking the bank for year now. As others have pointed out you are talking 53 man roster vs. 15 man roster. All that said and NBA just really passed on the NFL on these contracts. Did we forget that the going rate for a D End is $100 mil?
NFL players signing non guarantee contract is the biggest rape in the sport. The going rate for D end doesn't mean anything if the money isn't guarantee. NFL needs to reform the paying structure immediately before players decide to strike.

Actually the NFL has the fairest setup. You play well (or play QB :francis:) you get big money, you keep playing well you can get even bigger money (see Revis) and there is no limit on what you can make as an individual. If you don't play well you get restructured or you get cut. That's not rape. Players already tried that strike shyt in 80s and they caved during the lockout 5 years ago. NFL needs to reform their substance policy and Goodell's power to punish capriciously.

Another thing the rise in NBA contracts salaries also force the big clubs in Europe and China to increase their contract salaries.

It is a cause and effect.

Generally speaking, European basketball clubs are financed by their soccer side. They don't earn enough money on their own to survive and start competing with the NBA over salaries, nor do they give a shyt because basketball is always an afterthought compared to soccer.

For China, usually the budget for players in the CBA is 500K-3M per year. It's a league that is run by their government, so no chance that they start increasing their salaries. They have a secondary league (CBL) that's privately run, but it's a new league and it will be a long time till their salaries exceed CBA's salaries.

Thats not fair

for one, the NFL plays far fewer games and has 53 people on the roster to feed

2nd

the NFL owners could lock out the players and not really be hurt. There is no alternative. The NBA tries to pull this shyt, the players will stay in Europe until they get what they want. The NFLPA has ZERO leverage over the owners when it comes down to it

Wrong on both counts. Do you really think folks are going to watch replacements guys play? lol. Yeah right. Some folks would but a lot of other folks wouldn't. But the NFL players do need to get smart and start saving and quit buying dumb shyt like gold chains. That way they can actually have some savings during a lockout. It's absurd that cats making millions are living paycheck to paycheck.

Yes there are more NFL players but they are the highest grossing sport in the USA so there is also more money to go around. Point blank the NFL owners are just pocketing more money than NBA and MLB owners.

There are too many variables to just make a blanket comparison. 82 games vs. 16, 12 man roster vs. 53 man roster...what I would like to know is the percentages of league income the players are getting in each league?

So why do guys hold out all the time? And why do guys hate getting franchised?

no guaranteed contracts...:smh:
These players had Gene Upshaw (RIP) as their Union President for over a decade. Dude was weak and corrupt to the bone, a puppet for Tagliabue and the owners.
In comparison, NBA and MLB players had sharks representing them: Billy Hunter and Donald Fehr:wow:

Hell Billy Hunter was robbing the NBAPA and the NBAPA was headed by that nikka Derek Fisher who was a Stern operative, and still got better representation than the NFLPA.

Its kind of hard to even comprehend how terrible the NFL players and their unions are when you think about it objectively.

You never sre Nba fans compare the nba contracts to mlb though:mjpls:

A left handed junk ball pitcher that can barely touch 90 with a Era north of 4 can bring in anywhere from 6-10 million per in a open market.

There is no comparison to that madness.

Even if you're on a 40 man roster ... and never play ONE inning in your career you automatically get free Healthcare for life.

Mlb players union is the strongest in American sports.

Why is that teams can restructure contracts if someone under performs but that same person would have to hold out if they over perfom?
