Lets be real, this deal was way more beneficial for Eritrea than Ethiopia :whew:

They were on the ropes and jumped on this opportunity :russ:

They were clearly desperate for a lifeline. Now the sanctions might be lifted :wow:

Same party is in power, but I dont think its accurate to say its the same Government. Theres been a whole lot of changes in government and even in military since hes been appointed. Hes retired/fired tons of people connected with TPLF and empowered people connected to OPDO. You only need to see how people like this dude are reacting to see if he's popular with TPLF:

I've been seeing these Tigrayan extremists comment on YouTube :mjlol:

They're not happy with him.

Its the opposite right now, our neighbours are running laps around us and thinking big while Somali politics gets more and more parochial :francis: See SL/PL border war, Somali Fed Government fukkery, and Shabab displaying continung strength.

Might as well be annexed by Ethiopia at this point. shyt is looking real pitiful :mjcry:

These Barre era fakkits need to die off.

You included Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya etc?

I feel the same way about our part of the world

Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asia

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh

Arab states

The future is regional

Yup, Burundi too. The earning potential is huge and you’d have enough land to feed the population and a large enough workforce to launch themselves into the forefront. You’d have a zone of influence all the way to Seychelles in the east and a long western border comprising nearly the whole of the Nile/Rift Valley.

This is all easier said than done. But pooling all resources in economic cooperation might be the first big step in making Africa truly independent economically.

Africa needs to move away from this zero sum mentality. Doing business would benefit all sides.

That's what I like about how Abiy has been moving. It's very refreshing to see.

You made a thread on this a few years back right?

Lol yeah I’m just now remembering that. Thought I kept it to myself. :leon:

But yeah, the numbers would need adjusting of course but in theory it would make Africa much stronger if it was run under regional zones of influence so as to collectively harness the natural resources that all these other countries as robbing us blind for.

Lmao, now you know I’d never be opposed to that. That would be nuts tho, that’s like Kyrie signing with the Lakers to get back with LeBron. I think we’d get along just a little better tho lol.

Edit: the Ethiopian chauvinist in me prefers we annex South Sudan tho. Lots of farmland and oil plus those the real OG Ethiopians. :wow:

I hadn’t thought of that. Groups like them make this all so interesting. Afars are split between Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. How much and how will they fight to unite their lands now that hostilities are at an end between Eritrea and Ethiopia?

How far can he go before there is a backlash from the old guard tho? :francis:
Not very far. The old guard never goes down easily. Didnt they try to bump him off a few weeks ago? The whole situation is reminiscent of Myanmar, I hope it turns out different.

Definitely. It’s funny, my best friend is a hardcore Eritrean nationalist but he’s always argued that we’d be better off just all doing business together and staying in our own corners. While I’m more for soft borders or even federation/confederation but essentially I think the feeling on both sides is that we should be working together no matter the political differences.

I hope this trend spreads and united the whole of East Africa. It can serve as a model throughout the rest of the continent where there are still issues today.

I'm just venting out breh:whoa:

Y'all still the enemy :demonic:

But I want the whole region to prosper:manny:

One conflict only leads to another. Victory is only temporary.
