Landover, Suitland and Capital Heights are cities that border D.C and have hoods that are worse than D.C hoods. Homer Avenue was a neighborhood that was demolished in 2005, people were getting robbed in the U.S census Bureau parking lot.

Prolly explains why they set up that fence around Census complex.

MD rappers > DC rappers

And im from DC lol

This corny ass “u not from the city u a merrrrland nikka” shyt is old and divisive

Gotdam we all dress act and talk the same and are practically 5 mins from each other how different can it get:heh:

Real live cuz. I love The City, love spending time in it and my parents are Washingtonians and my lady is from the Soufside, it’s all love from me. But I won’t standby and let City nikkas disrespect The County nor the rest of the Meezy side of the DMV.

We’ve been at the forefront of this whole DMV rap movement shyt and some of the biggest local artists to push our sound into 2017 were from PG and Mo County. I honestly feel like we got the best rap artists (mainstream and underground) from the DMV anyway along with a more diverse selection such as:

Wale
Logic
Phil Ade
Oddisee
Rico Nasty (the biggest female rapper in the area and she from Largo)
Q Da Fool
Shabazz
Lil Dude
Goonew
Substantial
Sugg Savage
Mike of DOOM (went to high school with breh)
Jay IDK
Goldlink
Ciscero
Lyriciss nka Rob Regal
Young Simba
Willtharapper (he from Cap Heights)
Crank Lucas

That’s a lotta talent right there and prolly some I forgot to name drop. Hell, many don’t know (I didn’t even know til last year) but even GoGo music was created in Maryland out in The County....Chuck Brown was living around Seat Pleasant at the time he created it back in the mid-60’s and was attending Fairmount HS. Both DC and PG gave birth to a great number of amazing GoGo bands who reached legend status locally and introduced the music nationally and beyond and DC did came up with most of the dances but the music and art form was and is of PG origin.

In PG and MoCo, we operate on some grown MAN (Murrlyn Ass nikka) shyt and we’re proud of that label now bcuz I remember City nikkas used to always call us Murrlyn Ass nikkas outta disrespect.

But despite the rant, it’s all good tho. Because at the end of the day, we all we got especially as City folks get gentrified from DC and crackkkas keep tryna turn former Chocolate City into vanilla, The Chocolate County still got plenty of room for the DC fam to eat and prosper along with their PG relatives. Just like in OT situations, we got each other’s backs regardless :blessed:

Here’s a lul something for Da Culture:

I don't really venture on that side of PG lol. Furthest I've been is Cap Heights. I usually hang around my area, Hyattsville, Beltsville, College Park, Mount Rainier, etc.

Oh you live in the Uptop part of PG. I live in the far downbottom part where it’s a lul on the country side somewhat (Brandywine, Clinton, Surrattsville, Accokeek, Marlton, and Upper Marlboro). If you’re out on the Oxon Hill side, maybe you should check for some Fort Washington girls instead since they’re not as hood-ish as OH and Eastover females.

You can scout some females out in National Harbor, Tanger Outlets, or MGM too if you’re feeling lucky

Overall tho, I agree with Henney. The hood girls in the downbottom part (like Suitland, Forestville, Morningside, Temple Hills, Marlow Heights, Hillcrest Heights, Oxon Hill, etc.) are usually more on that hoodrat shyt than their counterparts up your way (Walker Mill was the last hood I used to stay in), so you should prolly follow his advice breh.

I think MD people claiming D.C hoods is exaggerated. You do have people that grew up in nice areas that pretend to be from the hood but honestly people say they from D.C because noone knows where Capital Heights, is.

I have never claimed DC proper. But when people ask me where I'm from and I say Maryland the next question was always "Baltimore?".....nah nikka...lol

Dmv is just a music scene term cause nobody can keep up with VA. It really started with all the DJs who had gigs everywhere, but even that small area, the three areas wouldn’t fukk win each other.

So DMV became all 3 so everybody could get their respect. Va and md can claim the streets of dc. Va and even md seemed soft, but dc gave it that credit. Dc can seem bigger than it is and they can latch on va’s music scene. You start naming md and dc rappers who blew..... we’ll wait.......

Nobody really claims DMV. They’ll use it to tell someone else about the area. But nobody really running around screaming dmv unless you in the music scene. Then you on some “yea shot out to the whole dmv”

Bruh you must be from VA. No offense, but ain't nobody latching on to VA's music scene at least not when the DMV term popped off. VA was coming to U St like everybody else to pay their dues. shyt must be different now because i don't remember any notable rap venues or groups from NoVa like that.

DMV was created because "DC Metropolitan area" wasn't marketable. It was a way to put a brand on the metro area by them radio nikkas. Nobody liked it but everybody accepted it. DC proper was/is the cultural hub. But that takes nothing away from the immediate surrounding areas. Everybody played a part.

that's what i said tho.. the dj's are the ones that started it... if radio is dc, and everyone paid dues in dc, and dc was the hood spot... then they would just stick to dc... nobody from new york says "i'm from the tri state" cause new york is solid on their own

the only thing missing from dc was rap.. they was all about go go. meanwhile va as a whole, was known from skillz to timbo to clipse to singing nikkas like there was no need to through in va for any other reason. they could have just been the dc/md area... or the dc metro area.. or metro area... or whatever the hell else. but nah.. the money and the music connects were in va. and va nikkas was coming into the city with money to perform and do the showcases and shyt, so they had to include them

Na
:manny: is he lying? And I'm not saying that facetiously...I genuinely don't know...if it's true, ain't nothing wrong with facts

I hate hood nikkas who always have to list their trials and tribulations to ppl who didn’t grow up the same

I’m anti corny suburban nikkas all day but this shyt is just as bad

Live your truth...but don’t bring my name up or compare us cuz you grew up harder
