Now how can I perfect this
livin reckless, die for my necklace
Crime infected, drivin a Lexus with a death wish
Jettin, checkin my message on the speaker
Boppin to Mona Lisa brown reefer, ten G's, gun and my Visa
CD crankin, doin ninety on the Franklin-D-Roosevelt
No seat belt, drinkin and thinkin
My man caught a bad one son, nikkaz is frightened
Secret indictments, adds on to one seekin enlightment
My Movado says seven, the God hour, that's if you follow
traditions started by the school not far from the Apollo
My "fukk Tommorrow" motto through the eyes of Pablo
Escobar the desperado - word to Cus D'Amato

:whew:

My godfather thinks I'm crazy when I tell him that IWW is better than Illmatic but Nas was at his lyrical apex on this album.
I judge albums by how I feel when I listen to them. IWW is off the fukkin charts with the reactions it gives me 20 years after it's release, I be literally listening with the :scust:and :wow: face

Another album that does that to me no matter how much I hear it is Reasonable Doubt

My favorite album of all time.....Too many tracks, but 'Watch Dem nikkas', may be the one, though I love almost every track on that album, the second and third verses are classic Nas, reflective, introspective street shyt, with more then a little intelligence, history, and foresight....

I voted "I Gave You Power", but it will always have bad memories for me.

I was bumping that song the whole way as I drove to our league championship game. For some reason I thought it would psych me up and get me into a rhythm. We were playing a pressing team in the championship, had a press-break ready, executed it to perfection on the very first play...and I blew the layup because I was so over-amped. Didn't get over it quick enough and played a forgettable game. I blamed myself for starting us off on the wrong foot forever after that.

Exactly! I love how stylish and conceptual IWW is, but he's still spazzing on every song, and it's still street. It had the hits and sales while still retaining an overall regional sound. If you think about it, Nas was everything people claim they want from an NY rapper in 2016.

I can't wait until that 20th anniversary thread this summer. Hope Nas is cooking up some type of rerelease. :wow:

It would be if I gave power didn't make an appearance on that same album :wow:

shyt is crazy how he crafts straight up short stories :wow:

When nas goes in story mode he'll give you a setting, some characters, a plot, conflict, climax, and a conclusion all wrapped up creative rhyme patterns
:mjcry:

Yep! After trying to write and research short stories for the last couple years, I've come to the conclusion that Nas's verse on "Calm Down" is quietly one of the greatest storytelling verses in rap. That shyt has everything you would want from a short story in 16 bars without being convoluted.

Paris Saint-Germain
hard hard hard

I'll go with suspect, he was on the zone with the second verse

Dear God, I want the riches, money hungry bytches infested
Giving the jealous nikkas sickness, the witness
My crew dresses, in vest-es, feel the essence
Try to test this, scientist, able and reckless
Slaughter, Nautica'd down, frames look petite
Ten millis, mix designed just for my physique
I keep a low pro as if I owe, bless the flow lovely
My pants hang low while I'm dancing, sipping the bubbly
Hey, me no worry, hashish keep my eyes Chinese
Rollin two Phillies together make blunts Siamese
I meant it, I represent it, descendant made of
early natives that were captured and taught to think backwards
Trapped us in a cracker psychiatric, it's massive
A Million Man March, alert the masses
Ten glocks, Armani in small print, upon my glasses
Don assassins, armageddon, the wettin'
Never freakin the beast, seven heads, got the righteous threatened
Life Was Written, the plot curves behind the settin'
Comprehend the grammar, Manfrione -- are you the type of nikka
to shoot a leg to get your name known? I flip the brain tome
nikkaz get hit and wrap the plastic
The mic I strike in vain givin the pain of what a Mack is
What you with? Luchi or drama, no sleep means insomnia
No need to check the clock, the streets are timin you

:ohlawd::ohlawd:

nas is coming has a mediocre beat but the flow and lyrics are no joke

[Nas]
From childbirth to hearses, flow like the Nile cover surface
I bit the fruit from the Serpent
Apocalyptic, get bent, stay splifted
Control the rap game you got it twisted
Dr. Dre way the 'Bridge say, shake dice and kiss it
Sip Crist', push the six with biscuit
Jeep full of chickens, pull up beside, have a listen y'all, Nas y'all
Fly gangsta, wavy hair teeth chipped in
My shyt bump, in the courtroom drunk, links truck
rocky bracelet, cognac kernel never chase it
Rap hero, black DeNiro
Federal Bureau, tapped my line and got zero
Rap pro, diamond roll, hustlin low -
pro-file, white gold style, rakin bloody dough by the pile
Shot down, still alive he strugglin for the phone
Fo'-fo' blow him, when homicide comes, these three words are sung

and let's not forget deja vu was supposed to be on iww and it's one of nas' best unreleased joint, so grimy
