Statistics. Google birthrates for each of those Scandinavian countries and Japan. Google gdp figures of both. Google govt expenditure as well of those Scandinavian countries. And crossrefrence them with the chart on birthrates.

Nah Japan has been ahead of a lot of modern living problems we see now. Their women rebelled against strict Japanese family structure and being stay at home mothers. They chose to not have kids and work.

The same thing we are starting to document now in large numbers in the west. Plummeting rates of marriage and women opting to not have kids. Japan been dealing with that for at least 2 decades or more. How is this on the government?


That's like blaming the current gender wars of the west on the government. It's not that easy. It's the changing economy and social scene. Life got expensive and people don't want to sacrifice for kids and a family.

I hate when people default to the money issue . It sounds right but it's not backed by evidence. The more money I give you , the less likely you are to actually have kids .


Keep in mind their birthrate was already trash in their golden age in the 80s, and early 90s BEFORE WAGE STAGNATION. They haven't had a replacement birthrate since they were broke in the 60s and early 70s.There is a direct correlation between their country getting more money , and their birthrates falling off a cliff .


Beyond Japan, I always raise the peculiar case of the Scandinavian countries. All of these countries gave the world a real life test case for what happens when you spend more money on people and make it easier for them economically to have children. Do you know what the results of this social projects were? Failure. Those Scandinavian countries are spending the most on each of their citizens than any other country on earth. They have more social benefits, more child care benefits, more family leave, lower work hours, etc than every other Nation on Earth but despite pumping more and more money at the problem their birth rates are still dropping. Keep in mind they have already instituted all the reforms you could possibly suggest.


Money is not the solution. Making people's lives comfortable is not the solution either. Because people with lots of money who are comfortable do not prioritize childbirth.


It's an ideological issue, not a financial one. People just do not prioritize children when they are wealthy. You have a better return on investment by importing poor people who still value children based on their prior environment.

it's a balance, if people are educated and struggling to afford to live comfortably they make the prudent choice of not having children they can't afford.
I wouldn't say poor people value children more but that they have more children due to lack of education and don't prioritize contraceptives because of cost.

Those are the only two regions of the world experiencing exceptional population growth.

They actually are doing the bolded. They’ve started initiatives for entrepreneurs and experts to come to Japan. Problem is though like you said it’s homogenous and a business/culture world unto themselves.

Japanese "Salaryman" work culture sucks ass. Long hours and old school traditions just break you down. Salarymen are expected to give their wives their entire paycheck and they only get an allowance back to spend. LOL fukk THAT. Also women are choosing not to have kids because of tradition. Once Japanese women get pregnant, they are expected to quit their jobs and stay at home with the child. They will also get passed up for promotions or have management do stuff like move their desk to force them to quit also. Women are like naw fukk them kids. I want to work and generate my own income. Japan could have an army of Filipinos come in and help take care of their aging population as they get older, but you know they not gonna let that happen. They will just use robots and ai.
