Couldnt agree more with all of this, especially hating the last few hours

The remakes overall are still good for the most part but he fukked up an already great thing with complete nonsense that absolutely nobody asked for
Outside of Aerith's death I thought the last few hours were fine. They totally bouched the death scene. They wanted to subvert the players expectations but they couldn't not kill her so they pulled that weird multiverse fake out.

I thought Cloud’s heel turn at the end was eerie, but in a dope way. The boss fights were great too. Really enjoyed the last few hours, probably my favorite portion.

That was my only issue wiht the whole game. THe messed up her death trying to have it both ways. They could've still made it clear she died and teased some multiverse shyt in the next game.

I've seen it theorized that the whole multiverse thing means in some worlds Cloud actually saves Aerith and he's floating between his normal world where she dies and an alternative world where he saved her. On one hand he can see her and she's ok and on the other she's dead and the party perceives her that way. It's pretty confusing given their lack of context but it still took away from the impact of the scene because instead of just taking it is straight I was going what the hell just happened?
