Man Final Fantasy Tactics was one of the best and most infuriating games I ever played as a little kid. It took what seemed like forever to get past some levels. Trying to figure out the right combination of jobs and moves to make to win. Extremely rewarding when you beat a tough level. Day one purchase.

Never played it, but I love these kinds of strategy games. Day 1 for me.

It was the first turn/tile strategy game I ever played at the time. Took a second to get used to but I thought of it as like playing chess. The story is really good too.

This is a Day One cop for me. I got SNES and PSOne as the 1a and 1b RPG eras.

Tactics is my favorite FF storyline of all time and has my favorite ending by a longshot.

Hmm. Aside from the slightly cleaned up graphics I don't see much change. I mean someone made ROMhack of the PSP version that had more impressive changes than this. I'll wait and see but they should have rereleased the GBA and DS and call it FFT: Trilogy or really went all out on this using the 2.5D style which would have been tailor made for this.

You can get Cloud as a companion much earlier in the game

Yea, underwhelmed no interest after reading the details. Tactics is one of my GOATs that I look back fondly on 26-27 years later.

But with pathfinder WotR, rogue trader, even Midnight Suns, and ofc BG3, etc., some minimal effort ish like this probably needed to drop 15 years ago

they probably don't have the source code for war of the lions, that or it was such an unoptimized mess they didn't have the budget/time to remaster that version
