Is there anything he can do to get a severance or file discrimination?
It will be very hard cause a PIP is usually put in place to avoid discrimination suits because they can just say well “he is on the pip because of this and that”.

He would need clear evidence of discrimation. Are his coworkers non-black? Have they been doing the same things he’s been doing but not placed on a pip?

I do think he can talk to an attorney about the severance tho and see how he can handle that.

They even made him stay late (after work hours) even though he is salaried. Working 8-6 pm

This didn’t happen to me but my cousin. Dude works in a hospital as a system admin (remote). He has been there for 6 months and he always complained that his supervisor (Indian lady) didn’t like him at all.

Two weeks ago the lady put him on a PIP that was to last for a whole month.

Honestly, I read that PIP document and it’s totally not him. Everything was graded an F (even attendance) and he has never skipped work.

The PIP was to be for a whole month but two weeks later (yesterday afternoon) she fired him.

Here is the fukked up thing though……he couldn’t complain to anyone because they don’t have a HR department. NOTHING.

They tried to make him sign the PIP but he refused. Now they want him to sign the termination letter too.

Can he claim discrimination or something? Just tryna help a brother out

They should have just fired him then, lying about his record and a bogus performance review isn't legal and puts them in a horrible position in court if he goes after them for discrimination.
Explain the bogus performance review part cause in at will states a company can fire you for any reason as long as it’s not discriminatory

He mentioned that he was the only system admin and the only brother in the I.T department

How can his supervisor put him on a PIP, if he was doing his job…even if the sup didn’t like him? They can’t give an F in attendance if he’s never missed a day or isn’t continuously late. And a hospital without an HR department?

Real talk, bro.
