Anyone saying Jordan has no idea what they are talking about. Tysons popularity was on another level 2nd to only Ali. To be the heavyweight champion of the world carries a prestige you wont ever get from no other sport. Even his release from prison generated a buzz boxing would kill for these days.

I think Tyson was more popular prior to losing to Douglas (1990). Jordan was up there too, but in the 90s, specifically after he won his first ring and they formed the Dream Team, Jordan’s popularity went to a whole new level.
