4 to the floor bass got very outdated, that's the 70's-80's sound. Double time, complex high hats add syncopation, you don't need swing if your beat is syncopated. 4 to the floor bass only makes sense if you're using an actual drumset, not a drum machine

The problem is producers using generic hi hat patterns, instead of experimenting coming up with new ones

I agree....those things are out the South though.....

That was my point.....

That was the sound in funk/ G-funk....

Not really, on that last note....Producers try and humanise sampled shyt to add swing and emulate that sound....Zapp and them were using machines and live drums....

G-funk is the most :flabbynsick: sound ever. Bomb Squad's beats aged better than a lot of G-funk. Some of it is obviously timeless but outside of a handful of people it sounds extremely dated and generic. A lot of it didn't age well. and im sure we'd all agree on the projects that did age well

Either you live in a place with shytty summers/weather or you have no clue what you're talking about.

When they pull they rides out on Friday nights and sundays in LA.... G Funk getting played on the regular.

Truth be told most G Funk music still sounds good today but West Coast artist know how to implement it in their current music.

I hope not.

I wanna hear some dope music but I do not want to hear that damn west coast 90s worm sound in 2017 songs. All these new sounds a computer can make I'll be damn if I want to hear a single worm synth and that moog baseline from Dre Day. Leave that shyt in the 90s so I can bump my 90s oldie rap cuts, tell a youngsta "what you know about this?" Reminisce and appreciate it for what it was at that time.

As a NYer, that g-funk would sound super corny in 2017.

And y'aall talking about us being stuck in the boom bap.
