I really don’t want my rappers delving in shyt. Most of the 90s/2000s rappers we grew up listening to didn’t do shyt either - it was the dudes around them. Drill music exists for the rappers that “delve” in shyt
To me Gibbs is just the personification of Gary, Indiana gangsta rap. He may not have done any of the shyt he rapping about but the shyt that really go down over there and he showing what life in Gary like.
I’ve always loved regional rap because of that - you get a different view/perspective into the lifestyle of how people in this area live. When I listen to Rome, I feel like Im somewhere in NYC, when I’m bumping Boldy, you get that grimey Detroit feel, if I’m bumping Larry it’s like he taking me through the bay. That’s the beauty of the art form IMO
