There is no such thing as an "instant classic", that phrase is an oxymoron :beli:. Will GKMC sound as good (or better) as it does now 15 years from now? That's all it comes down to.

It feels good knowing that it's just a small minority of people that refuse to give Kendrick's debut a proper ranking based on whatever anti-westcoast/industry hype plant perspective they have on him. Time will drown those people out and GKMC will get the recognition it deserves in hip-hop by the new listeners that come in.

The lyrics, the story, the pain, and everything leading up to it is something I hope get's remembered like the rest of the classics do. It's like people pick what year they stopped liking hip-hop and say "That's it, after this year there is no way that anything will compare to the music that was playing when I was younger, had little to no responsibilities, and the people I looked up to gave it their stamp of approval"

i called it classic but...i dnt really listen to it much anymore...

idk :/ after uve grasped the story and lyrics and sht musically its great but with that said...there are many skips on this album after a while

I'll still call it classic jus cuz..well...in a couple years when Kdot is poppin and bakcpackers turn their backs on him and hop on the next underdog to stan, this album will be the album I look back at and recognize the impact it had for his career and how his debut was a strong one

Classic Niccas
its not a generational thing. its a class thing. Kendrick is the new champion for L7 rap fans. that's squares for you dudes that cant keep up. GKMC is this era's "aquemini".

and may i add that just about everything that shyne said about this album was on point.

I wont go as far as to call it trash tho. it was okay. a solid 3 1/2 at best. and it was a step up from that section 80 album, cuz that chit was str8 up was tri-dash.

dude is a mid-2000s era reject for a reason. and that was a forgettable era with no classic albums, and he still couldn't do chit.

you should be ashamed of yourself for posting this.

in other words, youre saying that time will rewrite history once more brainwashed noobs become rap fans.

the point is, people that actually know their chit will 9 times out of 10 see this as an average album or lower.

It's greatest quality is the lyricism & that it's a full length running album from the very realistic relateable perspective of the average hood kid, i can appreciate that in the era of fast food music.

However, as an execution it's not good, great beats? Not at all. Kdots delivery is just weak. It's no surprise that he couldn't get on in the mid 2000's where charisma was in thing. This generation is so desperate for actual legends, classics and movements that they will champion anything, especially lyrcists, but yall forgot everything else that makes a dope M.C and Kendrick is severely lacking in many of those departments

This is exactly why all of these slightly above average rappers like K. Dot, J. Cole and Wale get gassed up by people. THey won't let the work speak for itself organically.

GKMC is bar none the most overrated album I've ever heard, and there seems to be a weird agenda in music circles to push it as some brilliant work of genius and if anyone disagrees they get crucified.

K. Dot is the new goat though :troll:

What is their to be ashamed of? I'm speaking about music that is relevant to me and came out during my time and what I think will become of it. Your a fan from a different era with a already pre-packaged notion that Kendrick is a bullshyt industry plant rapper that no one can like for real. You gave it a 3 1/2 which is cool cause I think that's as close to props as you'll give it. Nah people won't rewrite history, but people who came up during that time and who the music was made for will be able to give it it's proper place in history. The noobs comment :yeshrug: not everyone is fortunate enough to grow up with hip-hop so people gotta start somewhere.

why do people respond with stupid chit like this?

if your feelings got hurt and youre left speechless, then just fallback.

Because you said some stupid shyt all throughout your post. That's why I said it, shouldn't say stupid shyt.

1. No one compared it to Aquemini, unless you actually were, which would take away any kinda hip hop knowledge you think you have.

2. You said Section 80 was trash, which leads me to believe you've heard 0% of either album.

3. You called him a mid 2000s reject, that dont even begin to make sense. I doubt you even heard and of his 1st 4 mixtapes, to even know why he didn't blow up then.

also you agreeing with shine is the reason I can't take you serious
