Most overrated album and rapper on this board. I still can't decide if all these people who dikkride this album are real posters or plants. :lupe:

Section 80 was overrated as fukk too. The guy has some good songs and talent, but nothing to warrant the hype on here.

i called it classic but...i dnt really listen to it much anymore...

idk :/ after uve grasped the story and lyrics and sht musically its great but with that said...there are many skips on this album after a while

I'll still call it classic jus cuz..well...in a couple years when Kdot is poppin and bakcpackers turn their backs on him and hop on the next underdog to stan, this album will be the album I look back at and recognize the impact it had for his career and how his debut was a strong one

:skip: call every album you listen to a couple times classics brehs

What is their to be ashamed of? I'm speaking about music that is relevant to me and came out during my time and what I think will become of it. Your a fan from a different era with a already pre-packaged notion that Kendrick is a bullshyt industry plant rapper that no one can like for real. You gave it a 3 1/2 which is cool cause I think that's as close to props as you'll give it. Nah people won't rewrite history, but people who came up during that time and who the music was made for will be able to give it it's proper place in history. The noobs comment :yeshrug: not everyone is fortunate enough to grow up with hip-hop so people gotta start somewhere.

I was specifically speaking on the comments that I quoted.

and yes, the stuff youre talking is revisionist history. waiting for new fans to prop something up in hindsight, mostly as a result of PR & propaganda......thats revisionist history.

yes, Kendrick is a plant. its been obvious for like 2 years now. just admit that you really don't know what a plant is.

Im not a fan from a different era. im a fan from ALL ERAS. go try to use these weak generalizations on someone else.

Because you said some stupid shyt all throughout your post. That's why I said it, shouldn't say stupid shyt.

1. No one compared it to Aquemini, unless you actually were, which would take away any kinda hip hop knowledge you think you have.

2. You said Section 80 was trash, which leads me to believe you've heard 0% of either album.

3. You called him a mid 2000s reject, that dont even begin to make sense. I doubt you even heard and of his 1st 4 mixtapes, to even know why he didn't blow up then.

also you agreeing with shine is the reason I can't take you serious

1. If you didn't get the aquemini comparison, then obviously the message just isn't for you and im simply talking over your head at this point.

2. now youre really sounding like a stan.

3. ive heard tracks. not impressed.

4. youre sounding like shyne hurt your feelings worst than I did.

What rappers do you like from this era? Kendrick probably was a plant but where you fukk up is not realizing just about anyone that's hot nowadays comes up like that who cares if the music is good. That plant shyt is for stupid people that wanna be the first for anything new when it comes to music.

Wasn't even trying to pigeon hole you I just don't really see you talking about new people and with your retro threads I thought your were only a fan of time tested pre approved by nostalgic masses from the past music.

So the Aquemini comparison was meant to be a bad thing, yet you used a great album to compare it to.....

I dont care about being called a stan, if giving credit to a great album gets you called a stan, so be it.

I'd be surprised if you even knew the names of his first 4 mixtapes

I give no fukks about Shyne, you're the one who brought him up, as if his opinion validated yours.

I make and post in threads about current stuff on the regular actually. maybe just none of the threads that youre in.

if you don't see anything wrong with this plant chit, then youre not hip-hop. thats all it is to it. I mean, you can like a plant. I have no problem with that. but don't act stupid when someone speaks the obvious, and you definitely shouldn't be defending that chitty-chit. I like asap rocky but im not gonna sit here and play stupid if someone pulls his plant card.

again, you just don't get it. its not meant for you to understand obviously.

youre right, I don't know the names of Kendrick's old material. I just heard tracks and didn't care for them. I never claimed otherwise. and I definitely heard his defining works. one is okay and the other is gahbage. so whats your point?

his flow is analyzed @ music school btw.

probably one of the most complex flows we have heard in hip hop

I feel sorry for where you go to school. Cause theres nothing remotely complex about that.

It feels good knowing that it's just a small minority of people that refuse to give Kendrick's debut a proper ranking based on whatever anti-westcoast/industry hype plant perspective they have on him. Time will drown those people out and GKMC will get the recognition it deserves in hip-hop by the new listeners that come in.

The lyrics, the story, the pain, and everything leading up to it is something I hope get's remembered like the rest of the classics do. It's like people pick what year they stopped liking hip-hop and say "That's it, after this year there is no way that anything will compare to the music that was playing when I was younger, had little to no responsibilities, and the people I looked up to gave it their stamp of approval"

Yeah. I'm not buying it. I'm not moved by much of anything in that album.

Sing for me and Poetic Justice might be the best songs on the album. Thats about it.

I'm just going to say you're just someone who loves hard luck tales and equates that with being "good music"

Point being you spewed out a bunch of silly shyt that you can't even explain. So basically you tried to pass off a bunch of non sense and you can't even explain it. You somehow refuse to explain why you brought up Aquemini, as if everyone is just supposed to read your mind and see wtf you were thinking when you through out a subliminal message. 2 You called him a mid 2000s reject, and you said you only heard a "couple of songs" (btw, he has more than 2 defining projects, if you had any idea you would know what the other 2 were). So how exactly can you call him a mid-2000s reject, if you've only heard a "couple songs"? fukk outta here b

youre not affiliated if you have to ask. that simple.

I already explained the aquemini comparison in the initial post. it just went over your head somehow. and thats on you. im not gonna sit here and waste time breaking down chit that should already be understood to someone whos questioning me in a disrespectful manner. f*ck I look like?

what are his defining works then? all yall talk about are those 2 albums. I mean, i'll gladly listen to the other so-called defining material if you want. I listen to everything. but im sure youre just pulling my cord.

You should have just kept quite, if you weren't going to explain it. What I got from it was that you think people who like this album are squares, and that it's basically this generations aquemini. Which would mean you're calling people who liked that album squares too. Excuse me be Aquemini was a classic album in many peoples eyes including some of the people who are agreeing with you. Since you dont want to explain nothing, that's me take. Like I said it takes away from your credibility, and the fact that you tried to duck the whole shyt instead of just coming out and saying what you truly meant.

As for he other 2 projects, you should know them if you knew when he started to gain a buzz. They'd be fairly easy to fine. Though I doubt you'd listen with an open mind, it's clear you don't like something about him.
