Blown clal but none of this happens if megatron tucked the ball in

Lions always find a way to lose its so disheartening
It doesn't matter if Megatron fumbled or not, that's not pertinent to Bobby Wagner committing a penalty. That's like saying "Well, Russ shouldn't have fumbled the ball at the beginning of the 4th quarter, so anything illegal that happens to the Seahawks from then on is fair game."

The old ass ref on ESPN said he thought it was right not to make the call and directly affect the outcome of the game

What... wtf? That's such a bad look for refs, basically admitting they will make calls on emotions rather than actual rules

Tell that to Calvin and Dez with their overturned catches. That's not smart to say refs.

NFL Vice President of Officiating just said the play was subjective to the ref, so great no-call.. he saw it as a not "overt" bat... Shouldnt of fumbled :yeshrug:

Blandino: Wright committed 'foul for an illegal bat' - NFL.com
Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor made one of the plays of the year Monday night by forcing a fumble on the goal line, saving Seattle from potentially falling to 1-3. But should the Seahawks have been called for a penalty on the play?

According to NFL VP of officiating Dean Blandino, the answer is yes.

Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wrightbatted the fumble by Calvin Johnsonout of the end zone to force a touchback, but Blandino says Wright should have been penalized for illegal batting.

"You can't bat the ball in either direction in the end zone," Blandino told NFL Network Monday night. "K.J. Wrightbatted the ball. That is a foul for an illegal bat.

Blandino was asked directly if a penalty should have been called.

"Yeah, looking at the replay, it looks like a bat. It looks like he takes his right hand and bats it intentionally," Blandino said. "It's a foul. We have to make that call."

I mean that ball was clearly on the way out of the end zone anyway. He could have just as easily fallen on it or left it alone and it's the same result. No lions player was even close to the ball. In a scenario like this, leave the yellow flags out of it. Kam made an amazing play to save the win. I'm ok with it being left at that.

Detroit's ball on the 1 because you cannot intentionally bat a ball forward.

It's a correct rule technically. In this specific case it's very silly though because Seattle clearly could have easily recovered it. It was on refs to know the rule anyways.

Idk, why you guys keep saying he would have clearly recovered that. We've seen plenty of times where players don't get the loose fumble even of their first to it. Catching a flailing ball when you have momentum going one way isn't an easy feat. That's why he did the illegal bat out of bounds in the first place.
