I dont think it was on some slick shyt though,he knows the difference, the problem is many east coasters arrogantly post list like that as if the difference doesnt matter, because its one of their classics:mjlol:

Let nikkas post list of west coast classics,or southern classics, that were not only classics in they region and more, but also did more commercially,or even loved critically in they region and by fans...and put them in the same list with albums like Illmatic,The Infamous,RD,Liquid Swords they would have the nerve and audacity to be disgusted:scust:

BG Chopper City
In A Major Way
Ghetto D
illmatic
The Carter 2
The Real Testament
The Infamous
Season of da Siccness
Reasonable Doubt
Thug Motivation 101
Adrenaline Rush
Liquid Swords
Explicit Game

all classics albums that made a impact:myman:,they just been brainwashed, you gotta show em the real so they can get used to seeing it in reverse, thats all...they not all illogical and delusional:whoa:.

cats nationally been too humble, not speaking they real opinons,i never been scared....cant blame east coaasters for runnin wild with these crazy opinions, they been goin unchecked due to east coast media brainwashing nikkas from other regions too....nikkas dont even know if what they remember was right, and start questioning themselves.

Nawl not me,i was there nikkas:pachaha:...bigbadbossup was there,Future was there:ufdup:
I

i don't necessarily agree with the list, but I do agree with the statement

nikka you have no idea the level of bootlegging every other album had to face and limited understanding of what nas had to face.
The excuse is bullshyt.
Everyone from everywhere gets bootlegged and this has been going on waaaaaaaay before nas and waaaaaay after.
LMAO at nikkas painting the BS picture that everyone across america didnt buy nad album cause the had the bootleg already.
nikka please

Without using any type of search engine or making up ducktales name another album that
got bootlegged to the put the record label had to rush the album out.

As I said earlier illmatic was suppose to have 14-15 songs on it
Columbia salvaged what they had and put the album out (9 songs)

nikka I said ONLY. U acting like she was the only one who felt that way is the problem. Illmatic made alotta nikkas change how they was rapping. Don't get the shyt twisted. All the rappers in the game took notice when Nas dropped Illmatic. From Snoop to Pac to Biggie to Wu. It was a big deal. Unfortunately it didn't get the sales it deserved. shyt a bunch of people already had the album when it was released. shyt Nas was bootlegging it himself. And being that it wasn't some commercial album. It handicapped it. Everything ain't black and white like yall making it.
tupac listened to a bunch of nikkas as did most rap fans.
Tupac loved Spice 1.
I dont see you east coast bias nikkas bigging up whom he was, nikka please.
Bootlegging didnt handicap nas,the masses didnt love what he was doing enough to support

that's just it: it isn't a unanimous decision.there are others who feel that others are better.
You could say that about anyone.
Bottom line is pac was elected by people. Not media. That's what makes him so great.
There's never been a media campaign pushing pac as a goat, for him to have the status he does despite that, speaks volumes.

Nah. Cause there's actual proof of how people felt about Illmatic in the game, Critically and on the streets. Jay album doesn't have a case. There was plenty of hot albums back then. Even on the East Coast. Some that sold more than Illmatic. There is a REASON Illmatic has the status it has now. It ain't no myth. It ain't no fluke. shyt got a cosign by damn near every legendary rapper in the game back then. It had an all star cast of producers FIGHTING to work with Nas. They contributed to the project cause they wanted to. Reasonable Doubt didn't even have that. It was a good album. With not much hype around it. And didn't sell much either.

Its loved by the same nikkas who loved it back then, backpackers and hiphop nerds....nikkas still aint bumpin Ilmatic like that....same choir, different generation.

It got the same rub RD did,nas was able to blow up after Illmatic, and tell everybody how great Illmatic was....doesnt matter who cosigned it,his album wouldnt be the first classic that underperformed and went on to be forgotten.

Why yall dont think his situation and Jays is similar dont seem right...if Nas doesnt go on to do anything relevant after Illmatic,if he gets dropped after Nastradamus even,Illmatic isnt looked at or talked about like it is today as some album that stopped time when it dropped:mjlol:

Thats purely somethimg that happened through rewriting of history, same as RD....im not disputimg Illmatic was locally seen as a classic or by his fellow emcees btw,im just saying so what:heh:

Alot of albums were, and dont get talked about now...why?because those nikkas fell off and didnt have the media dikkriding them along the way like Nas and Jay have.

But some nikkas aint need that:blessed:

If nas and jay never blew,Illmatic wouldve been seen as a classic by backpackers thats rarely talked about,93 til infinity status:mjcry:,jays wouldnt have been called a classic at all.

lmao,is this a serious question?
So let me get this right, illmatic didnt sale when it first dropped cause it was heavily bootlegged.
But people kept buying it over time to make it platinum?
What happened to all the bootlegs that were on the streets that it initially didnt sell well?
They disappeared?
The bootleg task force caught up to them ?
rofl,this is too easy

the facts remain that the rap game in the early 90's was FULL of acts. the ease of getting music wasn't like it is now. different regions had their own shyt [which some would consider now classic] I personally think brand nubians, poor righteous teachers & especially x clan's debuts were better than reasonable doubt & illmatic [and I'm not from the east coast nor really bumping their stuff like that]. I feel az is a better more consistent mc than nas or jay z..he just doesn't sell as much..opinions vary.

I'm in my early 20s. My brother bought RD when it dropped but didn't think nothing of it. He always says he had no idea Jay Z would make it this far

the low end. southside chi
Future compared Nas SECOND album single (If I ruled the world) to Jay Z first album.

That's not a fair comparison.

He should have compared Nas "1 Love" or "NY state of mind".

But him throwing out If I Ruled the world tells me Illmatic wasn't even on his radar cause like RD it took years for that album to go platinum too.
future was like 10 when illmatc came out. dont think he really had a grasp of that album like with iww or rd cause they came out the same year

I said some real shyt, you're talking nonsense.
You're still looking for excuses and ways to validate them.
Why didnt the people whom kept buying illmatic, just buy the bootlegs?
