A lot of Gen Z is playing free to play games as well. Valorant, Apex, marvel rivals etc. They'll buy a new game every so often to play on the side but be playing these mainly
This is probably one of the biggest causes why. F2P games and mobile games have been crushing buildings in the gen z market.
Gaming itself is still doing numbers just like before, its just moved to different areas.

AAA game development is crazy now, it's a big risk to even make a game along with how long it takes to make them.

That's why naughty dog has released a million remakes of TLOU. They need income in-between releases and people don't realize this and you see it everytime one gets announced and people start complaining on social media.

People can't sustain these $80 games every month, industry needs to scale back and focus on AA games with great gameplay priced around $40 like helldivers 2 . Other gems like ninja gaiden rage bound and shinobi getting my money and they both under 40 right now. Both of those games are fun and great value.

I just think games need to get back to basics and focus on gameplay instead of big budgets outside of Rockstar with GTA, and other guaranteed franchises IMO.

I'll keep saying it. Gen Z does not really purchase video games like that. They're playing all of the free to play games (Fornite, Warzone, Apex, etc.) or the buy the annual versions of the same games (2k, Madden, COD, GTA). If they were to dig in deeper and single out micro transactions it will show where their money is going. But they mostly play games that the steamers are playing or what the trending game is at the moment. They are a majority of wave hoppers and not actual gamers that appreciate what all is out here to offer. A lot of us millennials grew up on 2D side scrollers and have grown with the industry so we have diversified out interests in games as the industry has blossomed. Most Gen Z outright hate single player games because you can't play it with your friends or they will watch someone else play it on a stream instead.

its far, far easier to justify spending a few extra hundred bucks on a PC that you'll need no matter what than it is to hop into sony/xbox's entry point in console gaming

the graphics arms race was pretty fukking dumb

I don't care how much people love that game "The Last of Us" having a remake 9 years after it came out is absolute nonsense. I'm like, move on and do something else/new
Instead of getting remakes of games like Dino Crisis that are begging to get remade we get fukking "Last of Us" bullshyt

fukk outta here:camby:

If you can buy games for ps4, dint bother, you'll be punished for not having a ps5.

Ps5 still retails at $500.

It's a 2026 issues.

For the past two generations, games have sucked

But i thought they were all buying 2000 dollar computers to play games :patrice:

They're lucky a lot of modern, popular "competitive" titles will go the extra mile for low end setups. This was a pain in the ass back in the day in that you needed either some newfangled tech - like HW T&L for the original Halo PC port - or being restricted by shader models. :francis:
