My point was they both technically would have valid points. But it's not like the players can help the rules evolving. I'm sort of indifferent about what he said. I believe Klay's performance was more impressive but Gervin isn't "wrong"

But they don't...only OJ does. It's one thing if the rules provide you with more opportunity. It's another when they provide you with more opportunity that requires more out of you and has a higher risk:reward ratio.

The game that Gervin scored 33 in a quarter the Spurs LOST by 20 points, 153-132

It was the last game of the season and he was trying to get a scoring title

He also made 17 free throws that game, although the quarter-by-quarter breakdown I can't find. I wouldn't be shocked if he made less field goals than Klay's 13

He shot less than 50% that game, going 23-49

So in other words

They do. Without a doubt. Just listen to guys saying everyone in the NBA today would've been average in the 90s
Haha when in reality most of those average 90s cats would be nothing without the shooting game in today's basketball :russ:

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
He's got some nerve, the score of the game he played in was 153-132 (and they lost), not a hint of defense was being played then. If the Kings played in 78, they'd be the best defensive team in the league then, that's how pathetic those squads were when it came to defending.

:russ: I swear man Spurs players just walk around like common folk. People will tell me they've seen Tim Tony Bruce and David doing normal stuff like getting groceries at HEB:wtf:
I remember seeing Devin Brown at a Hometown Buffet. I was like WTF you doing in the NBA yet you eating at raggedy ass Hometown Buffet :dwillhuh:

I mean, he's right...I have absolutely no problem with making a "in the 3pt shot era" distinction, kinda how we do with before and after the inclusion of the shot clock. ..shots being worth more points ain't some random negligible difference between the eras ..it matters...don't think that takes away from klays accomplishment at all

That was the last day of the season, the Spurs had a playoff spot wrapped up they were a 52 win team that year. They werent really giving a fukk about that game outside of Gervin getting the scoring title. That's why he didnt play in the second half :yeshrug:

He could've gotten 80 or 90 points that day in that game

Zero defense played, he has no room to talk and downplay what Klay did.

The 3 point line has existed in the NBA since 79, Gervin was still in his prime when it came into play and he took 3s when he played in the ABA, he simply was not a good 3 point shooter.

Dude is just straight up salty about his record falling.

shyt it was a bunch of shytty defense being played in the 70's. Are we supposed to take any and everything they did just cause of lack of defense?

shyt Klay got his numbers against the Kings and they aint exactly a group full of defensive juggernauts they damn selves

The 70s was a terrible era, you could throw that shyt out for all I care, there's a reason why the "modern era" starts when the 3 point line was instituted.

The Kings run a modern defense, their defense would look like the bad boy Pistons if they played in that era :ld:
