So Phil was a whiney bytch when he griped about that Spurs title in 99, citing technicalities? :sas1:

filed and understood :sas2:
Phil was just speaking the truth. No one was expecting basketball to be played in 99. Most of the players came back out of shape and unfocused. It was a throw away season.

The Spurs on the other hand have a history of being whiney bytches. Pop whining about the Gasol trade, Spurs complaining about a non Derreck Fisher call in 08, Parker crying about not getting recognition etc.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
he has the a point, if there was a 3 point line he would've scored more points, because he probably made some shyts than would've been 3s if the line was there, and the fact his record stood for 3 decades after the 3 point line was introduced speaks volumes

He was a 23% 3 point shooter in the ABA and a 30% 3 point shooter in the NBA, on less than 1 attempts per game he shot 27% from 3 during prime years of his career. He was shyt from long range and teams would have loved to see him shoot the 3.

Thirty-seven points in one quarter! That's what Klay Thompson, the Golden State Warriors' young shooting ace, had just done, the texts said. Thirty-seven points. Four more than Gervin scored in a quarter back in 1978.

The 62-year-old Gervin had two immediate reactions when he learned of Thompson's incredible feat.

First: "I said, 'Wowwwww, that's pretty impressive.'"

Then: "But I'd like to see him try to get 33 or 37 in a quarter when there wasn't no three-point line."

Within seconds, Gervin's friendly baritone gives way to a hearty, mischievous chuckle. The former high flyer and Hall of Famer, who still answers to the nickname Iceman, is speaking from pride, not bitterness, with an eye toward historical accuracy.

When Gervin set the NBA record for points in a quarter—in the second quarter of a loss to the New Orleans Jazz, on April 9, 1978—there was no three-point arc. Its adoption was still a year away. Gervin accumulated his 33 points the old-fashioned way: on mid-range jump shots, slashes to the rim and free throws. If he scored three points on a play, it came with the help of a shooting foul—the "and-1."

Why is it every time some amazing shyt happens in the NBA, one of these old nikkas got show up some hatin shyt :why:

"I don't feel—and it's funny, everybody laughs—I don't feel he broke my record," Gervin told Bleacher Report in a phone interview. "I feel he set a new record. He set a new record for the new NBA."

He paused again to break into another contagious chuckle.

"Think about it, man," Gervin said. "That's like if we're going to have a race, and you start on the 50-yard line and I start on the 1-yard line and we're doing a 100-yard race. It's not even."

:snoop:
nikka Klay broke yo record.

Records get broken almost everyday in sports why this dude getting so defensive? :what:

iceman out here actin like mercury morris.

Was about to post this. He played most of his career with a three point line and barely took them because he was a shytty three point shooter. A three point line would not have made any difference in his 33 point quarter.

I dont think that's where they were trying to go with it. I just think that these OG cats feel that their records are more impressive than these new nikkas who got the records now. They either did it in a tougher league, different rules, and without extra games or benefits like a 3 point line

OJ's 2,000 yard season IMO will forever be>>>>>>>over anyone elses cause he took 14 games to do it but that's not a knock on Eric dikkerson, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis, Jamal Lewis and AD.
Barry rushed for exactly 2,000 yards in the final 14 games in 1997. :sas1:

The Spurs played at a 110.6 pace that year, the Warriors play at the fastest pace in the league right now....98.8 :dead: fukking track meet with no defense and dudes just running up and down the court.

I hate when old school basketball players open their mouths, dudes sound so angry half the time. I remember watching one of the all-star games on NBC one year they had Russell on and he said Wilt would have averaged 45ppg that year, everybody on the panel looked at him like he was crazy :dead:

he also ony averaged 14 points I the ABA

it the fukking ABA who cares

in the NBA he should over 23 percent from 3

his highest average was over 40 percent

that doesn't change the fact he couldn't have made some 3 pointers, he scored 33 points in a quarter, if he two of his shots were 3 pointer he would have the record

stop being dumb, we talking one game not a career, and klay hasn't come close to averaging what gervin did, Klay only averages 16 point a game for his entire career
who knows if he can keep scoring like his past five games

It's like the dan marino touch down record.

When he broke it, it was special, when peyton broke it they changed the rules, then tom broke it, then peyton broke it back it became meh

:mjlol:

In 6 of his 15 years he hit 9 or fewer three pointers all SEASON. He basically averaged one every 8-10 games for his career. OK, we'll give him one three for his game. :dead:
