He wrote all of trapped and a couple of verses on other joints on pacs first album

so basically were talking 1 song and some hear and there shyt on an album that isnt even discussed when Pac is brought up...
...which isnt even 1% of Pacs discography (especially since its at the very beginning of his career)....

Its so little its not worth mentioning.

Ive skimmed through this thread...and damn near everything yall bring up is well known shyt about rappers that were never considered MCs like that.

I mean....cats are bringing up Biz Markie, Dr Dre, and ODB :mjlol:

That right there tells me yall really werent in the scene back in those days...and dont really understand hip hop.

I don’t agree with it.
Then you and others shouldn't be getting over emotional about the numerous cases of ghost writing shown in this thread.

@jilla82 if you were around in the 90s to really to Hip Hop back then you'd know that having someone write your shyt was widely frowned upon this is obvious come on now.

“Oh...that don’t count because it’s his first album “

that might trump “oh....that don’t count cause they were like brothers” as my favorite one

I mean, you can justify it in your head it however you want... buddy specifically asked for an example of someone writing verses for Pac, I gave him some

thats my point (im agreeing with you).

Cats in this thread are bringing up people that were never considered serious rappers as proof that others writing raps was normal.

The fact that it is Old news is not the point genius.

The point is that this is further evidence of ghost writing in Hip Hop.

Instead try becoming a mature Hip Hop head in acknowledging the element of ghostwriting in Hip Hop music.

nonone says there has NEVER been ghostwriting before Drake, everyone know that rappers like Biz Markie and Puff used ghostwriters. Even someone like ODB has never been seen as a top level MC, he was praised and admired for his unique and unpredictable FLOW not his lyrics, even tho he does have dope lyrics, it’s not a huge thing to find out he didn’t write them all, it’s old news. Drake is constantly claiming to the best MC.

All this to defend that fraud drake. :lolbron:

There is nothing to defend. People on both sides take this hypocritical stance:

1) Drake is supposedly not to be taken serious as a rapper because he's considered a "Pop star".

2) Ghostwriting in Hip Hop is a cardinal sin

If we take both statements to be true, then

1) Drake having writers should not be an issue given most Pop stars have writers and this is understood.

2) If this was such a "no no", no one would be given a pass no matter how great he or she claimed to be. The condition isn't what the artists thinks or what the perception of the media or masses think, it is the culture that matters. So if it is culturally acceptable for all these women and men to have writers, we can't cherry pick who gets a pass or who doesn't.

Also, the hypocritical stance on this is the mental gymnastics of "well as long as they didn't write X for Y, then I'm good" as it pertains to elite MC's.

The facts:

Ghostwriting exists in Hip Hop and passes have been handed out (prior to Drake's exposal). Some have gotten passes because they produced. Others got passes because they were females. Others got passes because they weren't considered greats (but the songs written for some of them are classics and make up a huge part of their legacy).

Drake isn't the first or even only rapper to claim he was the best while having writers. Kanye claimed he was top 5 and did an entire album with Jay claiming to be Hip Hop royalty and you have people actually saying Kanye killed Jay on that album.

So either ghostwriting is a problem in Hip Hop or it isn't. If you give passes, it devalues the credibility of any anti- ghostwriting argument to the point that its invalid.
