Probably one of the wackest beats on the album.

But we got a lot of people on here scared to say how they really feel about sh*t, depending on who the artist is.

And that's really what's killed a lot of albums for NYC rappers these days. The generic beats. Jadakiss can't get it right either with the beats. People talk about why NY fell off all day, but the answer, is the production. Once the budgets got smaller, n*ggas stopped putting a focus on production and would just get tracks from anybody who had a discount going at the moment. Both Rae and Ghost could've made classics, with better production.
I tried to tell yall NY production been weak as hell as sampling became more costly, but nikkas aint wanna listen to me :manny:

Listened to this back to back with SC1 and my main criticism with this would be the mix downs - not sure if it’s because SC2 is a bunch of records over the course of 25 years but it’s wild that the mix downs and mastering on SC1 is light years ahead of this one. I know that theres a few records from the 2000 - 2010 era but the technology is there now to at least get the mixes up to par. But other than that, this is classic GFK.

That being said, I’m loving the press run Ghost is doing for this because it’s basically him just getting his flowers - the radio hosts like Charlemagne, Bootleg Kev, Justin Credible have been proper fanning out. Even his peers like Nas, Fat Joe, Jada, etc havent been shy to acknowledge the greatest even though I know those are his peoples. As GFK fans, we know he’s one of the GOATs as a group and solo artist but it’s good that he’s seeing people holding him in that light.

Interesting thing is that Guru mixed multiple tracks on here.

Solid album to be far - first album I’ve liked from Ghost since the Pretty Toney/ Fishscale era. Obviously a lot of soul sample beats on here as there should be but I like that he didn’t overuse it as usually does and had some breakbeat stuff on here too - Ghost is one of my GOATs but he seriously been making the same album for nearly 20 years now as some have said. The Trial is classic Ghost/Wu :wow:

Part 1 is an all time classic so I was worried about this, especially when I saw there was no RZA involvement. This is obviously not on the level of part 1 but it’s one of the better albums that he’s released for a long time

Hmmm, not sure which ones he did but maybe he doesn’t know how to mix GFK tracks - same principles he uses for a Jay-Z track don’t necessarily translate for a GFK one. This is why rappers tend to stick with the same engineers i.e Kendrick with Ali, Drake with 40, etc as they know how to mix the tracks around that particular MCs vocal.

This is why RZA should’ve probably been involved in some capacity - Ghost’s tone and delivery is so unique that maybe there’s some techniques that he could’ve consulted on which he’s picked up after producing and mixing Ghost tracks for over 30 years. I’m honestly shocked that the mixing on here isn’t as good as on its predecessor which came out over 25 years ago.
