Kanye's camps production you mean. Kanye hasn't done shyt solo in years and he fell off immediately when Mike Dean stopped being the glue for his vision. That's why this project didn't end up being finished over there. So no we don't need Kanye just some of his resources.

that "whistling effect" is Rakim's "my melody" :russ: :russ: :russ:

Said that and clarified what I was getting at a couple posts later. It's a secondary sound effect on there. It's the most prominent part of this instrumental and response to it has been divided.

Coming out with a "sequel" album decades later is one of the lamest trends in hip-hop

they following the same trend that movies and tv shows have been using for the past decade.

come out with a reboot or sequel to the OG, which is usually completely inferior. especially when it comes to TV reboots.

This is a good point, but at least in the case of movies and TV shows the "sequel" has something in common with the original.

In the case of music, how are "sequel" albums more like the original album than the 7000 other albums that the given artist has released since the original album? In other words, what makes Supreme Clientele 2 more of a sequel to Supreme Clientele than all of the other Ghostface albums that have come out since 2000?

It is just a desperate attempt to get old fans excited about something.

yes, but I think for the most part, these older artist are putting a concerted effort into creating quality content with their "sequel" albums. I'm specifically thinking about albums like OB4CL2

I think that y'all are doing yourselves a major disservice by assuming that the album has nothing meaningful in common with the original Supreme Clientele, and that it can't possibly bring anything to the table in comparison.

We've heard one song. I'm biased in favor of GFK, but I've been no fan of his albums since like Big Doe Rehab.
That said, personally I like to hear a record before deciding whether I like it or not.

Some criticism i value, welcome and respect.

But nobody is forcing you to show an interest in anything. Some of the things said in this thread are ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

Hope the project delivered will be good enough to carry the name but Im not expecting the world from it.

First single is decent...

Ghost has said himself that you can’t recreate the content and context of what made Supreme Clientele special, but you CAN tap into the FEELING of what made that album special. So part 2 is going to give you the same feeling. Stream of conscious raps, ill flows, dope lyrics that may not mean a goddamn THING when held up to scrutiny but sound crazy when your blasting it in your truck speakers.

Its the VIBE of SC that Ghost is going for. So we’ll see how or if he executes but the Wu already have put out one gold standard for sequel albums so I don’t see why they can’t do it again.

I mean its GHOSTFACE we’re talking about here. A hungry sounding, excited, ready to rip the mic GHOSTFACE. WITH Nas, Raekwon, Method Man and muthafukking Dave Chappelle in tow! How could we NOT be optimistic about the chances of this actually being a great body of work?
