Shout out NC, apparently my Pops’ people come from Wake County and traveled to North Little Rock in the early 1900s.
Now, see you’re from the other side of the South and that’s what the issue is. Again, I would never tell somebody what lingo they use where they’re from, but I grew up in the ArkLaTex/ArkMissTen side of things and it’s nothing like on the East Coast southern states. I remember a nikka named Corey from Raleigh-Durham came to NLR high in 9th grade with Timbs and a bubble looking like a damn alien and got drug until he switched it up and eventually dressed like us lol. We all had the dikkies/501s/Girbauds with some Js or 1s as our base style of dress. This was ‘96.

I was in the Air Force with a nikka from Yellowstone on the Southside and that nikka was loud as fukk about it(like y’all TX nikkas be) and he said Pop too. I remember specifically because this isn’t the first time this conversation has been had. Also, a young cat from Houston came to my Bro’s school (‘98) from SW/Alief that was BD just like all of our hoods in NLR and he said Pop just like us too. The only thing different was he said Slab, Maaan, and hold up! all the time.

Hmm…. I used to be up in Conway a lot at Acxiom’s main data center maintaining their generators for Caterpillar, never heard of Mike’s place. Conway is ok though.
It’s actually kind of like that among the young cats from LR and PB, especially with the competition from the music scene blowing up like it is. I’m 39, but when I was younger we weren’t fukking with them down there like that either. People from the two cities/areas would come to the opposite city and hit licks on each other which led to some bloodshed. Folks want that hardest area in the state for whatever reason and dirty ass Crime Bluff definitely holds the title smh. For example, I was load banking the generators at Jefferson Regional Hospital in ‘09 and some nikkas followed a shooting victim up there and shot the emergency room windows out smh. It was and probably still is the worst metro in the U.S.
Hell, even North Little Rock and Little Rock be on that shyt sometimes still because we’re across the River from Little Rock. Come to think of it, even North Little Rock is split between Uptown, Downtown, and MacSide that have little beefs between each other. It’s a small metro of only 3/4 million people so it’s like a bucket of crabs. We won’t even get into the 501 vs 870 vs 479 area code shyt lol. Most of my 1st cousins (I left in ‘17) around my age left to either DFW, Florida, Colorado, or Arizona because it’s just too hot to be so small down there.
