Where I was born in MS they called it pop. Once I moved to GA, them nikkas gave me the gas face. Haven’t said it since

See, I’m trying to tell these nikkas. And MS is considered the Deep South and Arkansas is considered the Mid-South. What part are you from in MS, the North/Delta?

Oh and fukk them lol, it’s Pop gang:mjlit:

So really Texas and Midsouth :ehh:

This was my argument all along. That’s why I asked where y’all are from and the replies backed my stance up. nikkas from the East Coast (:troll:)want to run in here to argue about what it’s called rather than understand the regional differences. You can include North Louisiana too, trust me. People swear they know something about a place more than the ones that were born and raised there smh.

with all the time I spent in Memphis for my job ack in the 00s and early 10s, I don't think I ever recalled anyone saying Pop. It always catches me off guard when I hear it. Esp if it would have been in the south.

Memphis still one of my favorite spots in the states (people look at me crazy when I say this too :dead:)

A nikka used to fukk up some backyard Burger, Gus's, and A&R BBQ. My job at the time had a lot of warehouses in the Hickory hill area and I later went back for another company in the same area.

Strange. My Uncle married a woman whose family is from Parkin, Arkansas which is close to Memphis. Half went to Little Rock and half went to Memphis from Parkin. I used to go up there to their family reunions in South Memphis all the time when I was younger and when I got older (teens) we (the fellas) used to sneak up there all the time to hit the malls and fukk with the broads we got the numbers from later the same day. I never heard soda Bro. Different circles I guess.

It's even a regional thing in the midwest. For instance in KC I grew up saying pop but when I went to college a lot of STL heads clowned because they all called it soda.

Got fam in Wyandotte, Kanny Kan. They definitely said Pop too. My cousin’s old lady is from STL and says Pop too though. It is what it is I guess.

some of the funniest shyt is when I would ask local nikkaz where such and such place was (Orange Mound for Ball and G, Blackhaven (its actually whitehaven :dead: ), etc. ) and I'd just roll up there after work to get something to eat to take back to the hotel. Cac cowokers find out and say "I heard that area was dangerous!" . I'm like :yeshrug: and :mjlol: inside.

Seeing Graceland is in the hood now is also funny as shyt, but the estate keeps it up. Dat nikka Elvis had a plane. :wow:

When I drove there from Atlanta one time and saw Pressure World :wow:

Only thing I hated was how the midsouth can be RIDICULOUSLY hot. That shyt is horrible at times. Went to Jackson an hour away for some projects and it made no fukkin sense.

Mane, my job always sent me to the worst hood areas in the region because I was one of the only two Black dudes in the Engine Division at the time. One day, after about two years there, I finally told my boss, “Listen, some of these spots you’re sending me are actually safer for a white person than me. They’re not studying y’all pink asses like that, man.”. They really assume we all know each other smh. I’ve been in some of the most racist places/sundown town areas and some of the most hood areas in the Mid-South thanks to Cat. I’ve seen the worst of both worlds and learned to keep that thumper close everywhere I went even though we weren’t supposed to have firearms in our field service trucks per company policy.

It definitely gets scorching hot and sticky from late June/July to late September. It’s a sub-tropical climate on the Gulf coastal plain and sits right next to the Mississippi Delta making it like a sauna room. It can be over a 100 degrees with 85% humidity for days sometimes. Those 9 summers at Cat down there made my ass reevaluate my life, go back to school and start pursuing a bachelors degree in IT at 32 lol. I couldn’t take too many more summers outside all day in that shyt.

I was in the Air Force with a nikka from Yellowstone on the Southside and that nikka was loud as fukk about it(like y’all TX nikkas be) and he said Pop too. I remember specifically because this isn’t the first time this conversation has been had. Also, a young cat from Houston came to my Bro’s school (‘98) from SW/Alief that was BD just like all of our hoods in NLR and he said Pop just like us too. The only thing different was he said Slab, Maaan, and hold up! all the time.

I mean….. we can always do a poll:russ:

I was summoned in here has a “character witness”

I spoke on what I know…… many others sound like they saying the same.

I don’t know
