Nope. You lost focus of what I originally said.....You posted a video from 50 and a video from Nas decades later after Pacs death when the bandwagon was now putting Pac on the goat list. I originally said immediatly after Pacs death. And I used examples from the 90's...not the 2000's.

Keep Ya Head up is mediocre ? A song talking 'bout social problem, Black and about men who should be more cautious and take more women is mediocre ? Based of what exactly ? Just tell me.

Actually your definition of mediocre is because the song was a rotation ? Man just stop. U're embarassing yourself.

mediocre as far as it being a hit single played in that era ... we ain't talking bout social problems among the black community

i mean i can name like 25 singles in that ‘93 time frame more noted / acclaimed then ‘keep ur head up’ & ‘i get around’

@synistr

If you're really 48 you must be senile because you don't know what the fukk you're talking about.

Let's go back to this:

Again, that never happened. There isn't a single mention of Bishop Lamont from me anywhere on this site. Use the Search function if you don't believe me.

Then you said:

But then you just said:

The fukk? :gucci:

I'm the one moving the goal posts? :mjtf:

But it gets better:

Rarely post anything about Ross....and as far as the bolded with Kendrick, we can do a ban bet right now. Obviously I'm a Gibbs fan, look at my avy. But the Kendrick shyt....I'm the same person that posted the Travis O'Guinn interview exposing K Dot as a plant. The same dude that shyt on "TPAB" when it dropped. So again, you must be senile. Or you got me confused with someone else. Either way, you don't know what the fukk you're talking about. Which is par for the course in this thread, really.

Fred.

par for the course??? gtfoh :mjlol: breh, you came in this thread not to dispute the facts but to play "what if we switched Snoop wit Pac...." games. I am tired of arguing points about record stores having different prices. this is something I obviously have experience with and you dont. the price in a particular record store depends on what the record label wants from the distributor then what the distributor adds on. then it goes to retail and they mark it up for whatever they can get and move product at the same time. some cd's stores only made $1-2 off of. I remember when MJG's album came out and we sold that for $9.99 the day it came out. some stores had it for $15.99. if its a big chain they aint trying to move certain product especially if there is a regional fan base like MJG. so they may sell a couple copies for $14-15 and they may make $6 while an indy store like mine has to sell about 5 of those to make the same profit.

I shouldnt have to go this deep to explain this shyt but maybe you only shopped at ONE particular store in your entire life. Best Buy dont sell shyt the same price as Joe Blow's record shop....more than likely they markup very little to get you in the damn store so you can buy some other shyt that you really dont need.

"if Goody's had a new single disc album for $11.99 then a popular double CD would be no more than $17.99. shyt wouldnt be no damn $23.99." I did say this...but this is where you disappoint me doggie or your reading comprehension just isnt where it needs to be.

that was a fukking arbitrary number giving an example of a price at a particular store!!! lemme go in reverse. so if Wu was in a store for $22.99 then the store would likely sell a popular single cd for about $6-7 less, which would be $15.99 at the most. if you go to a DIFFERENT store and Wu Forever is $26.99, then the next popular single cd would be priced a similar percentage less, so you would be looking at a single cd being more than $15.99. you are likely looking at around $17.99. I didnt think I would have to explain what a "sliding scale" means more than once....but alas here we are. :francis:

I will admit, because I am man enough to do so....that AEOM was higher priced than the average double disc that came out around or after that time. it was exorbitantly priced, but just because one person bought it from one store for $30 doesnt mean everyone did. it varies from store to store and state to state.

addressing the other poster about Gin and Juice, my point with that is that sometimes sales dont dictate popularity....what is hot in the club plays a big part. I was a DJ and had a public access Video Show for 5 years so I was a member of a record pool. DJ's got the pick of the litter from wax....as a VDJ they wouldnt give me wax but cd's. Gin and Juice may not have been astronomical in terms of sales but it was a heavily promo'd record. Which they didnt worry about that because Snoop gained endorsements from that record, plus Seagram's owned Interscope so not only did Snoop cake off but that song exploded his brand. Did Dear Mama receive any outside or additional endorsements? I dont know, asking.

anyway, nikkas dont read the thread and shyt gone all kinds of ways now talking about how big Pac is right now and he is bigger than Snoop now. of course he is. really the only year that we should be discussing here is 1995. we shouldnt be arguing any other points. Pac was bigger in 96. Snoop was bigger before that and 95 is up to subjective debate.

side note: 8 Ball Lost album when it was first release was a 3-CD set...again, this was part of Draper's marketing ploy so his shipped units was actually tripled. Not saying this is what Pac did, but it became a quick trend at that point, along with other sly tricks mainly involving Soundscan.

you a good poster my dude, I enjoy posting with you. except sometimes when you start whylin out and throwing objectivity out the window. it all good tho. :salute:

Snoop was the biggest star on the planet 92-94.

Pac had the movie roles, hist 1st 2 albums, etc that was from 91-94, but Snoop was still the bigger star.

But Pac didn't become a mega-star until Me Against the World, and he was in prison at that point. That was around 95.

Snoop was still a star, but he had the murder case hanging over his head. He was kinda in limbo. Plus, East coast was really moving strong.

Biggie was becoming the biggest star at that point as a solo artist.

When Pac came to Death Row and blew up with All Eyez and got into that rivalry with Biggie/Bad Boy/Puff, Pac had eclipsed Snoop at that point.

When Makaveli dropped, Pac passed, and the bootlegs were circulating demonstrating how prolific Pac was, Pac was just on another level at that point. There was is no comparison between Pac and Snoop in that regard.

If we are talking bigger star when alive, I'd say Snoop for a longer period time. Pac for maybe 95, but definitely 96 until his death.

with this post you pretty much summed it up best. G said Snoop was bigger through 95. He stopped there. He also said Pac wasnt bigger than B.I.G. until AEOM which you touched on. Obviously he was speaking of Biggy's rise because we all know Pac was bigger before Biggy. I remember when Snoop was on trial and man people looked at it like if he was going to prison, they felt like Hip Hop wouldve just died. The only problem with what G was saying is it looked like he gave too much credit to Snoop and not Dre, but he cleaned that up in the end when he said all hip hop runs off the producers and he mentioned Mannie and Beats by the Pound. G was articulate in his points, its just Pac fans arent trying to hear it....but some of these fans werent even around back then.

Of ourse we talking about social problems among the black community, because that's what the song is about. U cannot dismiss the essence of the song and say otherwise. I don't think the song was meant to be a hit single even tho it was popular back then. And let's not forget it is critically acclaimed.

And your logic is flawed because, according to you, a song is mediocre because it's not a hit single ? What type of thinking is that ?

I remember some jay dikk riding nikka at one of my old jobs about 10 years back got laid out for getting a lil too rah rah and disrespectful during a convo about rap because for some weird reason my mans got triggered by the mere mention of Pac. Just a regular degular nikka that never knew pac but he had a fanatical hate for him. Dude started bucking up and gettin loud like he ready to throw hands and my nikka at the time , L.D. who was like a gentle giant class clown type nikka, remind me of Slink Johnson,

My dude got tired of ole boy yellin in his face while standing over him and straight blitzed his ass into another dimension. Put that nikka through the drywall were they was building another restroom in the warehouse. . Left that nikka leaking like somebody poured dark cherry Tampico on his head. That Pac hate had the nikka intoxicated with fury feeling like he can start wolfin on random nikkas. I bet one these nikkas on here is probably him, gotta be.

That shyts like it own unique brand of mental illness. Only reason im bringin this bullshyt up is because these threads always bring out at least 4 or 5 fukk nikkas who do the shyt im describing, getting wild aggressive over dumb shyt
