Use a credit card… purchase shyt with the institution’s money, if there’s an issue, have them figure it out, pay the balance in full each month.

we just had a big ass thread about why credit cards are better, and this thread exemplifies that point.

I find it hard to believe that all the expert credit card users in here are so special. They are essentially saying that they are getting over on the credit card company and getting cash back and rewards even though we know that you have to over spend to get rewards and cash back. The cognitive dissonance kicks in when you spend $1000 to get back a $10 reward which sets off the pleasure center in your brain.

Here is the thing. I use debit and credit cards. I have side businesses with my business partners, my sister, I have 2 rental properties and a high paying job.

So I have large sums of money in my checking accounts that I move around for business purposes. My checking accounts are high interest Kasasa accounts. They pay me interest just for conducting 10 to 13 charges on my debit card that are at least 5 bucks a month. So I can easily get 100 bucks a month with just spending 100 to 200 bucks a month since the amounts in my checking accounts are so large (kasasa accounts can require 5k to 10k limits with up to 50k max in the accounts).

Where as with my credit cards I have to spend 5k to 10k just to get that same 100 bucks.

So yes the credit cards protect you a little more since its other peoples money. But in some cases the debit cards perks are just as good as the credit card. But if are smart with you debit card and monitor your account. You can catch fraudulent charges. Especially if you have a good bank that gives alerts.

here's the 3 cards I use almost exclusively. I pretty much pay them as soon as I make a transaction, so the balance is usually very low if not 0. I will use one, and pay it immediately. I don't even wait the 30 days because I only use credit cards for shyt that I have the cash to pay for immediately.

another credit card hack is I will ask for limit increases every 6 months or so. I don't need the extra credit, but if you have more available credit, it makes it that much easier to keep your utilization low, which is good for your credit score. also getting a credit limit increase also can increase your credit score cuz they see u has having more available credit.

I don't fukk with debit cards anymore outside of using the ATM. I've dealt with people putting scam charges on my shyt and having to get new cards and wait for the bank to reimburse me, fukk that

But you don’t have too. I don’t. I’ve had credit for 9+ years now and I’ve never paid interest on my credit card. Don’t spend more than you have and you’re good. Discipline.

I work in the banking industry and it’s amazing how concepts that seem so simple to me are impossible to others. This isn’t rocket science. It’s basic financial literacy.
